Good morning, all.

Had RJ here yesterday, so got very little done. Today is our primary day, so need to vote, then get groceries, then tackle some stuff in the house. Visit is not looking very likely, but they are going to inquire at the dr office today. Grandma has not produced tears in her eyes since I was little, and the dryness has caused an ulcer in one eye. It is eating through her cornea and if it does not respond to treatment, she will lose her eye. So I would really rather she stay close to her dr and do what he says, and not take any unnecessary risks. We can plan a visit another time.

Yesterday, Evan got his preliminary schedule and his physical/shots. Looks like we'll be on our own for orientation on Monday, Brandon has meetings at his school that day.

Out of Order You come visit anytime! I'll have lots of Velveeta and beer on hand. ;)

Have a good day, everyone! Big hugs and positive vibes to all. :love_heart:

My laptop is dead at the moment. I think this plain evil windows update messed with him.
Black Screen no disaster recovery. I will give it a try later on.
Some say on the internet that it's the graphic card but I read yesterday about the windows update of the devil.
For now I am a lucky user of the library computer.

Prayers and healing vibes for your grandma. Evan will do fine on Monday- can you go over somethings with him at home to help prepare?
Stay calm and do not overdo.

Off to play some floorball this evening. My way of keeping in shape. A little in shape at least. First time for the season so i'll probably be creeping on all fours on my way back. But i've been playing regularly, for fun and with friends, for almost 30 years now. It is getting tougher and tougher but it is one of the few ways of keeping fit that doesn't bore me. And i usually don't do things that bores me. Even if it is good for me. Like jogging (shudder). If i'm not payed for it of course. Some parts of work is boring but that is outweighed by the good parts.

Murphy's Law- updates either work, or mess up the computer completely. Hope it can be fixed.

Spidey there is a function key you can press during boot to tell comp to use last effective boot (forget which no. lepplady or other member may know)
Also get function key number for safe boot and restore to pre update. Sure someone here will know which keys you need to press during boot process.
Good luck

Different computers use different keys. Most likely is the F10 key. As soon as you turn your computer on, start punching the F10 key. Keep it up until something happens, then hit it a couple more times, just to be safe. If Windows loads, it's too late. Try it again. Hold down the power key until the computer shuts off, then turn it on again.
If you don't get a menu punching F10, try F8. If that one doesn't work, try F12. Try all of 'em until one of 'em works.
When you get a menu, you have options. One of those options should be to start up in safe mode. Do that, Then do a system restore to the last time you know the computer was working. I've saved a BUNCH of computers from black and blue screens of death with System Restore.
When that's done, run a good virus scan.
And be sure to disable automatic updates. If your computer's working, it doesn't need to update. Those screw up more computers than viruses do.

To everybody whose computer is working just fine, go create a restore point. Right now. So that if your comp messes up, you can restore it to this very point. Your files and photos won't be affected. Don't worry.
