Lepplady -- as per Scott's post in the Kon 2014 thread, I was under the impression the Colorado Kon would be in 2016.

...that is my proposal, and one that I plan on discussing with everyone next month-I layed it out on this Thread earlier, that my opinion is we make the next event(and subsequent ones), bi-annual affairs so that we all have a chance to lay coins aside. Next Kon 2016 in Colorado!....

Do we know what we're saving up for? A room in town? The Stanley? Are there any plans in motion at all that we know we're putting those pennies away for?
Well, I would think no matter the accomodations many people will putting the coins away for transportation. The airfare to Colorado for those of us on the east coast and other "faraway lands" is not exactly "pocket change." I think making the Kon a bi-annual event is a good idea.

Well, I've made my desire to attend known to my other half a.k.a. Becky. She said I can go if she gets to tag along. I reminded her that she's not an SK fan (should be 'a', but it sounds weird, so...). I then reminded her that no, watching The Langoliers once at a friends' house in the 90s doesn't count, and I'll only let her tag along if she learns the way of the ka-tet (which means it's also the only way I'll get to show up). She called me a geek and insinuated that I was a weirdo, all stuff she should know by now, but said that she was 'open to the idea' of reading some SK (to which I replied "Well it'll be a million times better than all that fanfic crap you wade through").
I've now got to pick something that'll get her hooked. Not easy, when 90% of horror/SF stuff gets met with derision and/or contempt and/or annoyance.

Why not give her something that is not outright horror to start with? Like the Green mile, 11/23/63, or Dolores Claiburne. Or a novella like the Body or the Long Walk that is a bit shorter.

My Mr. is enthusiastic about going; to my surprise, he was the one who suggested we go when it's in CO. He's not a huge reader (of fiction), but lord knows he's heard enough about Mr. King and the stories over 25 years living with me (lol), and he does like quite a few of the movies. I tend to read aloud bits of what interests me, and he's developed an interest in the Tet--says y'all sound like 'real people'--HAHAHA!

Maybe Becky would like Dolores Claiborne first? Female protag, not a whole lot of supernatural hugger mugger (to steal from R.L. Stevenson), fast read, funny, and covering quite a few topics that are popular in 'Women's fiction'. Just a thought :)

I remember there was talk of at least touring the Stanley, if not trying to reserve a banquet room/hall (whatever they call them there) for a group dinner. Does that sound right, GNTLGNT ?

A Kon (or mini Kon) has been batted around for either Bangor or Florida in 2015. If it's summer, I'd say Bangor. If early spring or winter, Florida. It's too hot in the summer here. I've still been of the opinion it should always be in Bangor, but that seems to not be too popular of a suggestion.

If you jokers have wanderlust, then go ahead. No need to use the Kon for that... LOL (I kid, I kid)

I agree.
