Sounds like the Tet is Colorado bound for the Kon in 2015. Who's in? *raises hand*

...2016, as voted on at the past Kon...not to say if others wish to do something in 2015, that they shouldn't go ahead...but the bid for '16 was simply for financial reasons-to allow us to set money aside to make the trip happen without fretting...Really? No 2015 Kon? Wow. I missed that one.
Well, I would think no matter the accomodations many people will putting the coins away for transportation. The airfare to Colorado for those of us on the east coast and other "faraway lands" is not exactly "pocket change." I think making the Kon a bi-annual event is a good idea.Do we know what we're saving up for? A room in town? The Stanley? Are there any plans in motion at all that we know we're putting those pennies away for?
Why not give her something that is not outright horror to start with? Like the Green mile, 11/23/63, or Dolores Claiburne. Or a novella like the Body or the Long Walk that is a bit shorter.Well, I've made my desire to attend known to my other half a.k.a. Becky. She said I can go if she gets to tag along. I reminded her that she's not an SK fan (should be 'a', but it sounds weird, so...). I then reminded her that no, watching The Langoliers once at a friends' house in the 90s doesn't count, and I'll only let her tag along if she learns the way of the ka-tet (which means it's also the only way I'll get to show up). She called me a geek and insinuated that I was a weirdo, all stuff she should know by now, but said that she was 'open to the idea' of reading some SK (to which I replied "Well it'll be a million times better than all that fanfic crap you wade through").
I've now got to pick something that'll get her hooked. Not easy, when 90% of horror/SF stuff gets met with derision and/or contempt and/or annoyance.

I remember there was talk of at least touring the Stanley, if not trying to reserve a banquet room/hall (whatever they call them there) for a group dinner. Does that sound right, GNTLGNT ?Do we know what we're saving up for? A room in town? The Stanley? Are there any plans in motion at all that we know we're putting those pennies away for?
We should recreate the ball, complete with Lloyd the bartender...I remember there was talk of at least touring the Stanley, if not trying to reserve a banquet room/hall (whatever they call them there) for a group dinner. Does that sound right, GNTLGNT ?
But no dog suited man...We should recreate the ball, complete with Lloyd the bartender...
I agree.A Kon (or mini Kon) has been batted around for either Bangor or Florida in 2015. If it's summer, I'd say Bangor. If early spring or winter, Florida. It's too hot in the summer here. I've still been of the opinion it should always be in Bangor, but that seems to not be too popular of a suggestion.
If you jokers have wanderlust, then go ahead. No need to use the Kon for that... LOL (I kid, I kid)
They have the room available with the stage that was used for the scene in the TV miniseries, right underneath a certain haunted guest room. And I'm guessing they'd still be willing to give us a group rate for a block of rooms. We should recreate the ball, complete with Lloyd the bartender...
