I have to do the hard stuff carefully. Red wine will always be my drink of choice, though honestly I feel worse the next day than when I drink practically anything else.

Me Mum had a friend who put milk in her scotch, or scotch in her milk. BoakNot to encourage the idea that you or anyone else needs to try Scotch, your post reminds me of my introduction to the drink. I had been trying a variety of popular liquors (one at a time) and it was Scotch's turn. I looked forward to seeing what the fuss was all about, did a bit of research and chose an affordable single malt, McClelland (note: not Macallan, which is far more expensive).
At first I couldn't drink it without adding some kind of soft drink (relax aficionados). The taste was just too, well awful. But I'd bought the damn stuff and damn if I wasn't gonna finish it. Soon, I found that my taste for it began to change, and I was able to start adding just water.
Having completed that experiment I was ready to dry a different type of single malt, called Islay, which is produced on an island, the process for which involves the burning of peat. The resulting flavor was quite interesting in a disgusting way. I think I donated what remained, choosing to stay with one of the other four types of single malt Scotches. But by now I'd become a Scotch drinker.
Then the Islay became hands down my Scotch of choice.
So, my experience has been that a person's taste for Scotch can strangely change; a phenomenon somebody might understand scientifically.
But then I decided to give up Scotch because I tended to drink way too much of it to become someone else who would be responsible for my misbehavior, not me. And while this was a handy setup, it was also frightening. I was afraid I'd lose all my friends and loved ones. I ended up switching to Irish Whiskey (please see the Irish Whiskey thread).
They were the tastiest drinks I've sampled in quite a while. Don't go to Red Lobster very often, but might start if they keep serving those drinks.OoO i love straw berry margaritas lol
I'm an ABC girl: Anything But Chardonnay, at least these days that's the truth. I don't like metallic-tasting fermentation that gives me a headache after half a glass.
But a chewy cabernet, a tingly pinot grigio, or a curvy dry Riesling will work just fine for me.
I'll take a sip off someone's scotch every now and then, but it's not my drink of choice.

Has anyone on here ever drank Sake lol i get wasted quick on that.
Oh, sure. Over in Japan and here. I like it with the right food, but I wouldn't party on it.
I take that back. I was in a group where we had a ton of fun, and part of it was doing a round or two of sake bombs. There was some ritual that went with it. I don't remember it specifically. There was hollering and laughter in the mix.
Not a fan of warm Sake, but chilled it’s a tad better. Still have a bottle brought back from Japan sitting in the back of my small bar fridge... about 15 years old by now. Can’t seem to get myself to throw it out, as the bottle looks so cool.Has anyone on here ever drank Sake lol i get wasted quick on that.
