Expectations were low. It was a spinoff, of sorts, of Arrow, which was decent comic book stuff but with somewhat offputting over-angst and predictability. Yeah, okay, I still watch Arrow, doggone it.
But The Flash is fun. The lead character is appealing (as opposed to Arrow, where you sometimes want to say, "Stop being an a..." never mind), and it's just embracing the whole superhero/supervillain paradigm for what it is. The effects are what they need to be and done quite well enough. And the inclusion of John Wesley Shipp's role is inspired.
I'm liking it more than I thought I would. In fact, I'm looking forward to it more than the show that sorta spawned it.
