I think women staff BCDCs. Always women. And, do you have insurance? It's one of those things that most insurance carriers pay 100%. Okay, I'm going to get very very harsh with you. I do it out of care and love.

How much will a funeral cost your family? Lots more than a mammogram.
Yep on insurance, and it does cover it now. I put a note in my calendar to call Monday :)

That's what I'm hoping for :)
...this is true, that women are the primary staff during Mammograms-and if you should end up with a male provider-it is your right to request someone of the same gender...I am a bit bitter over the reverse sexism that goes on in health care...it's OK for a woman NP or MD to fondle my junk, so to speak-but women and their husbands or boyfriends lose their damn minds if a male nurse attends a delivery, does a pelvic, helps with an exam....this isn't 100% across the board, but it happens....and honey I'm just talking in general-NOT about you...I am a professional, and as such-it's a job, not an erotic thrill...

I totally understand you. It isn't right.

I know. I really do have a hang up--past stuff too ugly to go into. I went to Planned Parenthood with no cost benefit for years because there weren't any female OB/GYNs here and they had female nurse practitioners. I remember getting a male doc once (N.P. called in sick) and froze. I felt bad for making him feel bad--lol. My family physician is a man, BTW, and I'd trust him with anything. It just takes me a while to get used to someone.

...it's why I never got my dream job as a labor & delivery nurse...what?, just because I'm a huge dude-I can't be gentle and love babies or take good care of their mom's?....please...
That is something I can say I never even wondered about before. But, I see no difference, personally, between being a male labor and delivery nurse than a male ob/gyn. I only had one of my four delivered by a woman, and that was because all the doctors in the practice rotated all the mothers, so you knew whichever doctor happened to be on call when you delivered. Seems odd, now that you mention it, that there aren't male nurses in the delivery room!

I fall in that trap GNT. It is never about the guy as a person. It's more about me and my total victorian good-God-it's-a-man-and-he-is seeing-my-nudey-parts! Doctors could get away with it because that was a traditional role for men, but any other guy in a supporting role anywhere in the medical community -- I have an unsightly parasitic twin on my cooch, and he's seeing it! My third boob is in the way, and he's touching it! My anal sphincter just flipped inside out, and nobody wants to see that! but HE did!

For the record, I have none of these things. Women in general just blow things out of proportion when it comes to medical things. I do it, we all have done it at one time.

I just made an appointment with a female gyno after doing some local research. Love my family doctor (male.) He delivered my children. He's taken care of me for years. But for some reason, I just wanted a woman now. I'm old and my body is different now. I'm just thinking a woman will understand that better because she is going through it too. Of course, a male is intelligent and can give me what I need, but I think the sharing of some right of passage is more what I'm looking for now.

I still see my male doc for everything else. But this crazy cooch train backed up and he can no longer ride it.

Treated myself to another cheap book today. This one on the hundred years war between France and England. ca 1337-1453. It is the one where Joan of Arc (or Jeanne D'Arc as the french say. Has never really understood why so many names are translated and not kept in original form. When you are reading history it can be confusing) has a part. It is a complex but interesting story.

LOL! There are female OB/GYN here now, but 22-25 years ago there weren't. Our family doc gave up delivering babies the year before we were ready to have kids--malpractice for OB is insane & he decided he couldn't afford it anymore. I would have definitely have had him deliver my kids, if he'd still been doing that. I was fortunate enough to find a lady doc that I adored that delivered all of them. She retired four or five years ago & I have yet to find another doc--I've been looking, though! I promise! I'll make that appt. Mon, too :)

okay.:stfu:

I really can't get too self righteous about that. It's been years since I had a lady parts check-up.
