I have a Yu-Gi-Oh card tournament to take my son to this weekend at one of the local gaming lobbies here in town, actually I'm taking both my son and his best friend. They aren't old enough for me to drop off yet so I'm taking my Nook to read as I sit thru three hours of some kind of card game that I completely don't understand. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons in the early to mid 80's but everything was in a module back then and it was all done on paper. I am so friggin' old.....My wife has to work Saturday but I have a sneaking suspicion she would have found a way out of this event no matter what.........:sneaky:

My kids (19 and 26) used to be SO into the Yu-Gi-Oh cards! I think my 26 y/o still has a binder full of them. I think they about lost their minds got some sort of (Exodia?) card ... forget his name but you would have thought they struck oil!

It's funny, but most (if not all) of the role playing games out there are based on D&D. Form a party and go on an expedition. Fight stuff. Get rewards. Even the character sheets look the same. The biggest difference is that everything's digital now. But young 'uns scoff at us old-timers.

Oh, Good God in heaven

I got a job, start April 1st. Even have a parking spot number.

It is the one my heart wanted.
Congrats! Party time!

You're right about them getting excited. The concentration he pours into this game is uncanny. When he tries to explain it to me, I just kind of hear buzzing noises after a while and try to took interested and nod my head every now and then.

I've still got some old D&D modules from the early 80's. They are the ones that were published in England before it became big over here in the U.S. I can't remember where I bought them but they're still in pretty good condition surprisingly. I've tried showing them to my son. He likes books but just rolls his eyes at those old D&D books.....darn youngsters.....

To paraphrase a passage in a book: "New beginnings are such delicate times." In such an occurrence, if you're not scared to some extent, you're not alive. It's how we work through that apprehension that helps to define our characters.

Congratulations, n_n, and I have no doubt that you'll get through the speedbumps at the start and carry yourself forward with grace and accomplishment.

I am so overwhelmed. thanks.

I am having trouble thinking straight. So much to do.. Move? again? Looking around at all my stuff and what can possibly give up.

I have nice stuff here if anyone wants..

I really need to sleep on this. I am so grateful but still scared.

You'll need to move anyway-- Perhaps as you make friends at your new work, they can suggest housing for you. Take some time and think about what you'll need if you move.
