I did an estimate yesterday...finally...after several attempt to connect with this potential customer. I'd called him earlier, maybe an hour or two, and though he was out and about he said he'd be home by this time that I'd pulled into the drive, walked up to the porch, through that open door, and knocked on the interior door. Quiet. Last time, three little poodles were raising hell in the windows...and I needed to measure windows. Figured it'd be best not to aggravate them so I only stuck out my tongue and made only one or two lunging gestures. Just kidding. Chalk another one up.

But while I'm standing there in the hot porch...musta been about 85 degrees yesterday...I look at the stuff hanging on the wall. There's a faded 8x11 and words in crayon or marker on that piece of paper. Something about 'you bring any more of this stuff around I'm going to shove this one up your behind.' The words were a tad more colorful and drove the point home. First thought...maybe this isn't such a good idea. No sound from inside though the garage overhead door was up, the hatchback on his SUV was open and the grass needed cutting. Nice and green.

I'm heading back to the truck, left the phone there, figure to call him, see what gives. I'm almost there and the little white dogs, three of them, cut loose. What? They'd been sleeping? There's that bastid that stuck his tongue out at us! I open the truck door and reach inside for the phone and I hear a voice call from behind me, nobody can approach this house unnoticed. Something something. So...have an estimate to generate, have four window jobs to order today. One manufacturer has a special that starts today, no-extra-charge for triple glaze, plus Semco Gas, through EfficiencyUnited, is offering a $70/per window installed rebate. Now is the best time to invest in energy-saving windows. Semco is through Michigan and I think Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. That is all.

Over and out.

.
It was difficult to get a shot of Tommy Lee because most of the time, he was behind a lot of smoke....but his drumkit actually rose on a roller coaster type of thing....they call it "cruecifly".....it was really cool, the entire thing went up, and spun 360 degrees as it travelled. Tommy plays drums just as well upside down, btw....

I have heard him talk about this on his radio show. Great pic! Love the Crue. I think I saw them 3 times back in the 80s. No one threw up on me!:cool2:

Happy Tuesday to all! Month end reporting starts, so I am off to work.

I am!! I always have one on the dining room table (as we never dine there!). I'm more of a 500 piece puzzle girl and they take me forever, unless my husband decides to sit down and work it- he's fast at puzzles. That's a very cool puzzle you're working on. It would probably take me 5 years, so 2 is not so bad. Someone usually gives me one for my birthday and Christmas.

Hi EMARX ! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever.

I have a catechesis training to go to today - have to leave here in 20 mins and be gone all day. It'll be good for me. The kids are teenagers - they don't need or appreciate me anymore. I never thought I'd miss those days when they were toddlers needing me every second of their life, but I do.
I have training in a couple of weeks...but I don't wanna go. Saturday's are MY days, KWIM? Trying to think of a way to back out--is that awful of me? Third grade is okay so far, but TBH, I liked my older kids better.

Stopped for bagels while taking one of the granddaughters to school this morning. She said she liked my sunglasses, so she tried them on.

My daughter would writhe with envy of your granddaughter's hair! She desperately wants it dyed a wild color, but she got a job that forbids 'unnatural' hair colors. My heart isn't broken--growing out dyed hair is a PIA, and with teenage girls often involves tears. I'm not great with tears.

The answer is No, that is not awful of you. I avoid extracurricular demands on my time like the plague. The only thing I would add though is in case you're avoiding things in general (I imagine that you are not) then attention should be paid as to why. Life inevitably imposes on our "free" (which for me is defined "rest") time, and imposition = inconvenient.

So, I heard back from the indie newspaper; I'm in as gov't reporter, with occasional forays into 'lifestyle' pieces. :) Thank you all for the good wishes; I'm sure they made the difference. Something told me to pick up an AP Styleguide at the book sale, and I'm glad I did--this paper uses that one, vs. the Chicago Manual of Style (my publisher uses that one). I have to brush up on the differences between them! I can use the ducats :)

skimom2 It is not awful to want to back out. If you are stressed, or not in a positive vibe, the training and end results will not be your best foot forward. Mayhap you just need the time to have YOUR day( Saturdays). Self matters and spirit must be renewed.

I don't know what tag alerts are.
In 'alerts' ,when it shows that someone tagged you or mentioned you in a reply. I usually get them, but sometimes I'll be meandering through a thread I haven't seen in a while and hit on one directed at me for which I didn't get notice. I check 'alerts' first thing, so if they showed up I would have seen the post originally.

Honestly, I'm not so hot with it myself, but she's a wonderful girl, smart and with great values, she seems to dote on me, and if she chooses to punctuate all that with short, turquoise hair, I'm fine with it.

(I understand coloring - I'm Grandma's "colorist." Nice 'N' Easy at $7/box is a lot more frugal than the local hair shop, and she likes the work I do.)
