I did an estimate yesterday...finally...after several attempt to connect with this potential customer. I'd called him earlier, maybe an hour or two, and though he was out and about he said he'd be home by this time that I'd pulled into the drive, walked up to the porch, through that open door, and knocked on the interior door. Quiet. Last time, three little poodles were raising hell in the windows...and I needed to measure windows. Figured it'd be best not to aggravate them so I only stuck out my tongue and made only one or two lunging gestures. Just kidding. Chalk another one up.
But while I'm standing there in the hot porch...musta been about 85 degrees yesterday...I look at the stuff hanging on the wall. There's a faded 8x11 and words in crayon or marker on that piece of paper. Something about 'you bring any more of this stuff around I'm going to shove this one up your behind.' The words were a tad more colorful and drove the point home. First thought...maybe this isn't such a good idea. No sound from inside though the garage overhead door was up, the hatchback on his SUV was open and the grass needed cutting. Nice and green.
I'm heading back to the truck, left the phone there, figure to call him, see what gives. I'm almost there and the little white dogs, three of them, cut loose. What? They'd been sleeping? There's that bastid that stuck his tongue out at us! I open the truck door and reach inside for the phone and I hear a voice call from behind me, nobody can approach this house unnoticed. Something something. So...have an estimate to generate, have four window jobs to order today. One manufacturer has a special that starts today, no-extra-charge for triple glaze, plus Semco Gas, through EfficiencyUnited, is offering a $70/per window installed rebate. Now is the best time to invest in energy-saving windows. Semco is through Michigan and I think Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. That is all.
Over and out.
