Drink extra water, take a multivitamin and whatever over the counter pain medicine you can tolerate. Aspirin works wonders.I'm not angry but just a little annoyed that I got a hangover. I totally deserve it and it was expected but still.
Switched cable companies the other week. RCN had to come back Saturday to try and fix a problem. Now an “expert” needs to come next Saturday to give it a shot. Apparently I have the only VIZIO Smart TV that TIVO is incompatible with... according to the tech.
I am in Canada but yes - it is the same here - we have dealt with MTS and tried them for a while then switched back to Shaw. Here's something that happened:
I finally brought cyberspace into my home recently.
I'm a Luddite . . . that's okay.
You won't enjoy getting old any more than I have (thank you, Kurt Vonnegut).
So I go on the internet to schedule a "tech" to come to my house and do whatever magic (and it is .. . John used to say that . . . some of you will remember . . . 'magic is just technology we haven't learned yet') they do that makes it possible for me to annoy you guys with all of my nonsense.
So anyway . . . I order a specific package from the provider (who I will not advertise) and while the "set-up" is occurring, the tech guy says something on this order:
"I can't get a code for the offer you selected at this speed."
I have no idea what this means. Perhaps you do.
What it looks like to me is the ol' bait -n- switch, if you're familiar.
Long story short . . . it costs five bucks more a month than they said it would, and I'll give the technician credit for not losing his temper when I yelled at him for something that wasn't his fault . . .
But it's exasperating sometimes . . . or is that just me again?
I saved about $50 a month switching to another cable provider. I now get even more and better channels, faster internet speed (at 56 mbps), plus additional benefits. My old provider wanted to know why I was canceling their service. I told them it was primarily the savings, and second was the internet speed. (And the final straw was their dropping of the the NY CBS affiliate, and only keeping the Philadelphia CBS affiliate, which meant no more NY Jets games). The customer service rep said I was only getting 5 mbps from them, but I could upgrade to 60 mbps for an additional $32 per month. That was their sales pitch to keep me a customer… Pay $80 more per month instead of $50 more, to still get less, overall, than I will be getting from the new provider. I was kind to the rep and said, thank you, but I'm cancelling your service. Here's something that happened:

If you have some backup for what you selected, call the customer service department and complain. They might honor the other offer for a year, especially if you're a new customer.
Did you check into Direct TV (especially if you are and AT&T Wireless customer)?I need to find inexpensive cable/internet. I don't really watch TV and just need basic basic.
Only thing around here is Comcast and Verizon Fios it seems. They both have a million channels and home phone.
Do you have a friendly neighbor that you get a decent wireless signal from? You can always offer to give them $10 per month to allow you to connect in.This is actually kind of funny.
What ended up happening was that they knocked $25 (a little bit less than half) off the "introductory fee."
Don't you love that?
Ask the "technician," for whom you must pay $59.00, what the additional "introductory fee" is for, and he smirks and shrugs (in fairness . . . I would, too). So, there you are.
They've got us right where they want us . . . and that bothers me to a certain extent.
I used to think I didn't "need" to be "connected," and maybe I don't.
But "want" supersedes "need," sometimes . . . or is that yet another thing I've misjudged?

DIRECTV + Internet - Special Offer | 855-829-2798I'm verizon. Can you get internet with Direct TV? I don't know neighbors. Have not moved yet I know they have free WiFi in the offices

LOL Perhaps we should start a thread “How to get Pucker technology for free.”Once again, "funny."
Somebody besides me should start a thread with suggestions as to how I can stop describing everything that happens to me as "funny."
I actually brought this up with the "tech" who came to my house. I told him that my old friend, Zap (another story, another time) used to "pirate" his neighbor's WiFi, but he had to take his laptop into the bathroom in order to get enough of the signal.
The tech laughed (win for me), and said, "It's not like that anymore."
What else could I do but believe him?
He knows -- or claims to know -- how the magic works.
I don't care how it works . . . I just like hanging out with you guys.
; )
The one drawback to DirectTV is you might have to clean off snow from the satellite dish in the winter. Thanks! I will look into that. That's excellent.

Like if you don’t care about TV, but would still like to watch movies and some TV shows, Netflix allows 5 users on an account. Find a friend that has Netflix, but doesn’t have 5 users, and ask if you can share their credentials for your PC.
Here, you can get basic basic from Comcast (I think it has something like 12 channels). You can also get just internet or internet/phone. We dumped cable altogether, watch internet-based tv (Netflix & Hulu) and haven't missed cable a bit. Alternately, you can try an antenna to get the major channels over the air (if its just a TV issue).I need to find inexpensive cable/internet. I don't really watch TV and just need basic basic.
