Is that Dutch? German? I like the melody but had no idea what she was singing.
It is Swedish. One of of our more famous, national, sIngers. Is that Dutch? German? I like the melody but had no idea what she was singing.
I have sung that christmas song (the Swedish one) since I was a little kid. It is one of the more popular christmas psalm in sweden. Written around 1900 so it has been around awhile. Church, schools, daycare or tv some how it does not grow old. We have a Swedish version of holy night (O, Helga Natt) And of silent night (Stilla natt) here that also are Very popular. That was beautiful, Kurben!
I second O, Holy Night. There is a tenor at my mom's church that sings it for their Christmas service each year that will give you chills.
Me too. Learned it in HS German (when the dinosaurs roamed the earth). I also learned "Are you sleeping" in French and Russian (lol) at some point. Weird stuff the mind filter holds on to.I can sing silent night in German.
Cool...where'd you learn it?I can sing silent night in German.
Yeah, the Ronettes version of All I Want For Christmas Is You has been in several movies. Home Alone or Gremlins...can't recall. I love that lead singer's voice. Not so much 'what song?', but 'by whom?'. I like a Rat Pack Christmas, Frankie, Dino, and Sammy. Ol Bing, do ya. Nat Cole. The classic crap. Oh, and I LOVE Christmas tunes by any of those big 'wall of sound' Phil Spector girl groups from the early sixties, The Crystals, the Ronettes. I crank that stuff at holiday parties, call it a Phil Spector X-Mas--people look at me funny. Hey, that's just good music.
Grade school! Some lady came in and taught the class.Cool...where'd you learn it?
