At work, last week, One of my Bosses read a novella i wrote while in university. It was based entirely on my experience in school. I was mobbed by my fellow students for eight years, from i was 8 until i was 15 years old, and this writing was my way of getting it out of my system. Now he thought it was really good and that i ought to do something with it. He mentioned a speech at workplaces or schools or trying to get it published. If I wanted too of course... I am still in two minds about it, it is very personal but it also important that people take it serious which sometimes they dont, probably because it is difficult to imagine how it can be if you Havent experienced it yourself.
Anyway im still thinking about it. As a start im gonna digitalize it, it was written before computers so all i have is a copy or maybe two of it. Do you have any thoughts? Feels better just writing about it to you, my friends.

I think it is very brave of you to write of your experiences. And I'm sure it could help others. But, you have to be the one who is ready to share it, and you will, how you want to when you want to. It's very intimidating and frightening to put something personal out and worry about the reaction, will we be traumatized again by doing it.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I hate the ugliness of people.

Personal experiences, especially painful ones, can be wonderfully affirming for people to read--proof that one can go through awful experiences and come out the other side alive and well. I think, though, that one would have to consider one's own level of thick-skin, because there will be people who are negative and who will say hurtful things about what ever is written. From questioning what you did to 'deserve' what happened, to making a joke of what happened (or of you), to outright disbelief that it happened at all, there are always people who will be horrible. It's worth considering if you are willing to take that sort of reaction, IMHO. It's easy to say, "Just ignore the 'haters'," but it can be a very different thing to be the one who has to do the ignoring.

Is mobbing a slang term somewhere for bullying or ganging up on? I think of it as the experience of being admired by a crowd, for rock stars and other popular types.
Not exactly the association i had in mind when i used the word. ... . I used it as a term for constant bullying over many years including assault, knifewounds and the destruction of proberty like books and clothes. But that is just the more active parts, then there is the isolation of the person subjected to it. From playing and everything else school is supposed to be. I always think the Losers were extremely lucky because they at least had several friends.

That is scary and I am sorry to hear something so upsetting and sad happened to you. I have known other people who had bad school experiences and have heard of students being injured or killed because authorities couldn't or wouldn't act. Have you read Ray Bradbury's story "The Playground"?

Yeah liks everybody else said, well except Siggy, I don't have a computer and I ain't huggin' this phone, I just know it'll get the wrong idea and we already have enough problems.
Hmm, ya know, and maybe think of it this way, you owe it to the chickensh!t bastards, and you deserve that...yeah okay I'm a little vindictive that way, but also maybe you'll help even just one person, and how cool would that be?
Either way, I'm of the opinion your just too cool and groovy, they're all probably still a bunch of losers, so....

Kurben- you and I are soul brothers. I know exactly what you went thru. Those experiences stay with you all of your life- it's not something one can just 'get over', you can move on but the memories are still there. Whatever you decide, it's up to you. Your story may actually help someone, you just never know.

I think my feelings are closest to mal's.

There are many reasons to publish; money, fame, helping/inspiring others. But only do it if/when you are ready.

Especially these days, it is so easy for the haters to get a message to you. In the past, they had to invest the time of actually writing something out, putting on a stamp, and walking to a mail box. These days, they just mindlessly type into a phone or computer. And these days, they get to actually see some results of their trolling.
