Yes I remember that day so well. And that weekend was one of my best weekend ever.
Mine too. ♥
That was so funny, every time I think about it I giggle. Not only about the people who were looking at us like we were crazy cult worshipers passing around a holy book, but how funny we sounded trying to pronounce the Finnish words. We were seriously trying too. LOL
Good times, right? ;-D

-Asian (Philippines), has a Japanese and Chinese Blood but was born in Philippines

Have you lived your whole life there? I kind of see the Philippines as some kind of cousin country to Mexico, due to having been a Spanish colony at some point. Even if your ancestry is Japanese/Chinese, you are now my cousin Philipi- (what's the word used in English for people of the Philippines?).

I love guitar, many people feel like the piano is a more "feminine" instrument, but I'm proud to call myself a guitar player.

In Mexico, there are music groups (I have seen them mostly at schools, but I suppose there can be independent ones) called "rondallas". They use mostly guitars, with a bass, too (the big kind, that looks like a cello).

In many of the mixed ones the men play the guitars, but the women only sing. I always wondered why that was.

I was very lucky when, during high school, I was part of one, because our leader taught everyone equally, so he had boys and girls playing guitars.

I think it looks so cool when all the members, no matter the gender, are playing. If I remember when I get home I will look for videos of mixed rondallas where women play and where they don't. There is definitely something missing in the ones where they don't, and I see no reason why they "can't" play, after all.

Yes you did and it was a very brave thing. Finnish is a very difficult language. Yes we had a great time and I still think about that
weekend sometimes and look at the pictures we took. It was the best. ;-D

Yup, same as I do, since that's Spanish.

I think you are too young to have been exposed too much to it, but how much Spanish do you know? Or see/hear on a normal day?

we are using some spanish words mixed in "tagalog" in daily discussion. altho not that obvious.

You're a luthier, then? That is extremely cool. I just picked up the guitar again after stopping playing when I was 20-ish. I am not a guitar player though, I'm just someone who can play some songs on the instrument. I'm working on the rest.

For the purposes of this thread: I am creeping up on 60 (ye gods!). Love to read, listen to Prog rock (as you all know well) and write. I write for a left-leaning political website. I also dabble in other forms of writing. Working on a book about political words/phrases right now. I suffer from a ridiculously rare disorder wherein my feet swell, burn and turn red. It keeps me at home most of the time.

I love the people on this board and adore working as a Mod. Thank you. :::bowing:::

....just in passing....my brain is an endless pit of weird information and I knew it was painful as hell.....what have they prescribed for it?...Neurontin or some such?....

You sound like me. My brain is full of (mostly) useless trivia. :D

I'm taking Lyrica, which takes the edge off and allows me to function somewhat better. Treatment is hit-or-miss as what works for one might exacerbate another. Took 2 years to settle on the Lyrica. Thanks for your concern

Danie, I think I got it to work. I rushed, though. Bad lighting and piano is abysmally out of tune. I plan to rectify this.
That's really nice - I love to hear someone play piano - I bet if you tried you could type up a storm!
I'm a medical transcriptionist and I am jealous - I have been told piano players can type the fastest of anyone!

She thought we were a cult, I don't remember her citing a deity. Wish you could have been there. I hope soon I can attend another. SK fans are a special breed of folks.
I so wanted to go that year (that was back when I was skinny). But I was also under lots and lots of stress and just could not broach the subject with Andy. I thought I would be able to but it fell through.

I'll try to phone him tonight to see if the trip to Colorado is still officially on (fingers crossed).
