Describe myself, hmm. Well I'm Morgan, I am female, I live on the east coast of the US, and I'm a 23-year-old writer. Blah, that's too vague...
I read my first Stephen King novel, Desperation, at 12 and was hooked to the horror genre ever since. I was already a bookish child, and had read as many books as I could get my hands on at the local library. I love to make the "Matilda" joke, but it's somewhat accurate. I began writing full-length novels at 10 after my mother bought me my first computer, they got significantly better after I discovered a passion for the horror genre. I can still recall finishing the first halfway decent, if you can even call it decent, novel. It was about werewolves eating children, my mother was sufficiently displeased lol. She became even more displeased after I discovered a love for heavy metal music at 13 when I saw a performance of Rob Zombie on the David Letterman show. It was like a King horror novel come to life, and I fell in love. I pleaded to have a guitar of my own, and she eventually relented unaware I'd soon be dying my hair black and shredding Slayer in my bedroom at max volume.
I love guitar, many people feel like the piano is a more "feminine" instrument, but I'm proud to call myself a guitar player. Especially having stuck with it for over 10 years. My first string of jobs were within the music field. Teaching, selling, and repairing guitars. It became one of those things where you learn not to make your passion your job. I started falling out of love with music, and thus went back to my roots as a writer. I was employed for a time at a publishing house, and now currently work as assistant editor and writer for a video game company. I write stories for games, game guides, reviews, and edit content that comes in. I'm more of a short story writer now than a novelist, and have had a few of my short fiction published in literary journals. I have been working on the same novel for years, and it's difficult to juggle my love of writing in-between everything else I do. Working full time, and to balance my time equally among my many different passions. Music, photography, art, and of course reading. I end up reading 10 books simultaneously, and then go to the thrift store and buy 10 more. I'm a terrible insomniac, frequently staying up well past 4am. My friends describe me as "nocturnal", as in, I'm semi-functional during the day, but I truly come alive at night, and I get some of my best writing done at night.
And that's about it really. I love Stephen King, and if you've kept track of my posts here on the forums I also love long-winded posts. 'Tis a pleasure to meet and converse with all of you!
