-Asian (Philippines), has a Japanese and Chinese Blood but was born in Philippines
Have you lived your whole life there? I kind of see the Philippines as some kind of cousin country to Mexico, due to having been a Spanish colony at some point. Even if your ancestry is Japanese/Chinese, you are now my cousin Philipi- (what's the word used in English for people of the Philippines?).
I love guitar, many people feel like the piano is a more "feminine" instrument, but I'm proud to call myself a guitar player.
In Mexico, there are music groups (I have seen them mostly at schools, but I suppose there can be independent ones) called "rondallas". They use mostly guitars, with a bass, too (the big kind, that looks like a cello).
In many of the mixed ones the men play the guitars, but the women only sing. I always wondered why that was.
I was very lucky when, during high school, I was part of one, because our leader taught everyone equally, so he had boys and girls playing guitars.
I think it looks so cool when all the members, no matter the gender, are playing. If I remember when I get home I will look for videos of mixed rondallas where women play and where they don't. There is definitely something missing in the ones where they don't, and I see no reason why they "can't" play, after all.
