Here's a bunch I've seen lately. Some of them I saw a few weeks back, but eh, it's been a while, I'll post them anyway.

Hail, Caesar! - 7/10

Much better than most modern wide-release comedies, I loved all the old film pastiches, could have used a bit more time with some of the characters.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - 7/10

Pretty messy, but enjoyable, I'd rather watch this than pretty much any MCU movie. Ben Affleck stole the show.

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie - 8.5/10

Awesome independent comedy, great practical special effects, very charming. I've been a fan of James Rolfe for not far off a decade now, and it's a shame I've seen this movie so late, but I'm very happy he has accomplished such a major film.

It Follows - 9/10

Chilling, creepy, very well made and acted. The soundtrack reminded me of Carpenter, and I love Carpenter.

The Devil's Rejects - 9/10

I loved this movie, I was engrossed the whole time. All the leads were excellent, especially Sid Haig. The final scene, set to ''Free Bird'', has to be one of the best I've seen in a long time.

Anybody remember seeing a ten year-old Kurt Russell kick Elvis in the shin in It Happened At The World's Fair? (probably the only memorable moment in that entire stinkfest).

Gimme Shelter (1970) The Rolling Stones

Blu-ray version - This is a Criterion collection release and as with all Criterion Collection blu-rays, it looks better than any other version I've ever seen. Includes some extra footage and commentary.

Documentary mainly about the Stones disastrous concert at Altamont Speedway. Also includes some footage of them working on the Sticky Fingers album. Watching this again, I am amazed that this concert didn't turn out worse than it did. As bad as it turned out, I think everyone involved should be glad it wasn't worse. It was complete chaos.

Did they say who's bright idea it was to hire Hell's Angels as security?

I'm not sure if they ever really pinned it on anyone in particular. Michael Lang who organized Woodstock seemed to be in charge of this. I think the Stones had something to do with it too. There was a a lot of animosity with the police's handling of other concerts at the time and maybe the organizers naively thought they could do security without police. There was a big problem when the venue (Golden Gate Park) where they had originally scheduled this concert backed out and it had to be moved in 48 hours. It was doomed from that point on.

I just got done listening to the commentary of Gimme Shelter and the Hell's Angels questions were sort of explained by the filmmakers. The filmmakers were not in on any of the decision making so they don't know for sure but here are some points they made:

* Hell's Angels were not hired by anyone. It was common at the time for San Fran area promoters to use the Angels as a barrier around things they wanted to protect such as sound equipment, generators, electrical, etc. They would give the Angles free access (and beer) if they came in and just set up camp around these critical areas to discourage people from these areas.

* The Stones had used England's Hell's Angels at their free concert in Hyde's Park in England. I don't think they realized there was a huge difference between the two organizations.

* The Stones management may have told the Angels that they could sit on and around the stage after hearing what the other San Fran promoters allowed them to do without realizing what they were really offering.

He Never Died- Trippy. Interesting, sort of funny. Solidified my belief that Henry Rollins wold have been the perfect Negan on Walking Dead--they would have just had to darken his hair to where it was when he was younger.

Lemmy; because...you know...rock and roll. Also, he makes my bad habits look tame.
Pretty much a day in the life kind of thing, featuring Lemmy Kilmister, bassist and lead singer for Motörhead, among other things. I was very lucky to see him perform before he died.
