Hi there

I just want to apologize for not taking the time to come here lately.

It seems I have been depressed or blue (or something like that) ever since I realized that I could not come to the King Kon this year.

Debbie Debbie913 - I would have come by myself except for the expense. Andy has been working like crazy to pay off our mortgage and of course now we get hit with a big $4000 tax bill!

Guess he forgot that when you pay your mortgage through the bank the taxes comes out automatically every month.

I did splurge a bit and at the moment my friend and his son are building a new deck out back - the old one must have been from the mid 80s I think - the wood was so old and rotten they had no problem dismantling it with crow bars.

Anyway, enough about that for now.

I was on Facebook - trying to clean up my son's account - his fiancee was complaining about all the pics of girls he has on there. Well it is no wonder!

He 'likes' posts about tattoos, rap music, hip hop, muscle cars, WWE etc. I was surprised to see how many "ladies" (I use the term loosely) will post semi-naked pics of themselves. Being a normal red-blooded guy (but without a lot of smarts) he would naturally click on these and either follow them or just like the page.

That is probably another reason I am not feeling so well - going on Facebook is probably bad for your soul (in my opinion) - what a crazy place that is, compared to the SKMB.

Well, rant is over now. I hope all are doing well out there. It is a lovely hot day here with no rain forecast - great deck building weather!

=D:biglove::m_joy:

Hi there, I remember you from when I was here before.

Also, what's a "Facebook" ?

Buckwheat and Pyro are the two resident snakes that visit the SKMB on Thursday only. Our Ms Mod dislikes snakes, so a warning sign if placed in the window. They are really friendly and just stay in the corner observing those who enter the Cantina!

Snakes, eh? Hmmmmm, I don't really care for 'em, yet still, they are sentient creatures that deserve respect. As much as I dislike seeing it, my mixed terrier rips into them like platters of green spaghetti whenever I cut the tall grass out back....maybe he was a mongoose in a former life?

Have a medical procedure this afternoon that will hopefully take care of the vertigo I've been dealing with the past week and a half so will be taking the afternoon off. See you back here tomorrow. In the meantime, be kind to our volunteer moderators and don't make extra work for them. Newbies will have to wait for moderation.
Did they do the rotating chair test?

The Valsalva? (something like that)...

Sorry - I have missed so much from not being here!

I hope it all goes well for you and your vertigo is cured. I had to take a medication called Serc a few years ago for vertigo but then luckily it just went away and I haven't had any dizziness since.

Thanks everybody for the good wishes. I'd expected the procedure to be a lot worse than it was but the doc had prescribed a few meds to take beforehand so went really smoothly and no puking. I'm still feeling a little woozy this morning but my understanding is that I might for a day or two after but at least I was able to get up this morning without having the room start spinning and didn't need to steady myself. If anyone else has BPPV, the Epley maneuver that the doc did really helped and he claims it shouldn't come back although I might need another procedure since I had it in both ears.
Ahhh - the Epley maneuver - I have heard of this - I hate typing those dang ENT letters but I do find out about a lot of different medical procedures.

Glad it went well!

(benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) - say that three times fast! (with a mouthful of cookies) :adoration::a24::chew:

Neesy, I'm right there with you about missing the Kon. I have been so down all week. I thought my disappointment would lessen, but now that it is here, it has made me even sadder!

Pretty low tech testing. Just had me lay on the exam table with my head over the edge. He then rotated my head to either side (rest in between) and watched my eyes to see if I did that “nystagmus” movement. I'm feeling much better after having the Epley maneuver.

Ive landed in Minneapolis on Friday. Started our drive towards Colorado sunday. Made stops on the way in the Badlands national park. Beautiful Then to Wounded Knee. Both in South Dakota. Then to Carhenge, Stonehenge made out of old cars an idea that can only start to grow in an american brain. That was in Nebraska. Then to Wyoming where our car broke down in Cheyenne and we had to be towed to Fort Collins. An eventful Journey about a 1000 miles. We even found a Stockholm in Minnesota, 144 inhabitants with a churchyard full of people with swedish names. But in Cottonwood, South Dakota we found the closest to a real ghost town you can get. It had 12 inhabitants. That is including children. We also passet through the sioux reservation in SD. Now im restoring energy so im all ready to go by Friday.
Tons of Swedes in Minnesota Kurben - you should have felt right at home!

Glad to hear you had a safe trip so far (even though the car broke down).

I missed this post before...you were pretty darn close to me, too!

Carhenge is not far from where I grew up. Did you go through Scottsbluff on your way from Alliance (where Carhenge is) to Cheyenne?

Good morning,

We are going to hit 100 today, so I am off to the grocery store before that happens. Already 85, and it isn't even 9 am yet.

National High School Rodeo Finals are in town this week, lots of extra people here. Good for the town's economy.

Hope you all have a really great day. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:
I felt sorry for those two guys out in the back yard yesterday - it was supposed to go up to 34 Celsius but with the humidex would feel like 44 (which is about 111 F).

They were drinking a lot of water.

The humidity broke later that night when we had a huge thunderstorm.

How is the weather today?

Right now it is 90, supposed to get to 97. (36 C) Not much better than yesterday! I guess there was a fist fight at the rodeo yesterday, between parents. :facepalm_smiley: Only thing accomplished was getting their kid kicked out of the competition. I bet the heat had a little bit to do with it. No excuse, for sure. But it is brutally hot.

I'm starting to get ridiculously depressed and I refuse to let that happen. I'm going to take advantage of this momentary stop over in Flagstaff to watch one episode of Stranger Things. I'll figure the rest out from there. If anyone needs a room tomorrow and Saturday night at the Inn, there will be one available.

I knew you were bummed!! Knew it! I can't even post and only glance at those threads because, for a multitude of reasons, I had zero chance of going. We shall suffer together, CAT.
