Went to get my car washed this evening and the owner tells me to drive in to one of the service bays so his son can start the job. As I'm getting out of the car this gangly kid with a faux-hawk and earring walks up to me and says "Hey uncle, do you want Armor All inside the car too?"

"Alright, let's start with my name. It's Steffen..."

Effing teenagers. :no_pig:
I wish I had a smart mouthed teen to wash my car!

Armor All INSIDE the car??? :dunno:

I'm more like this.. Because. CBL is fun, see what she does next. Somebody put a banged up quarter in her snack tray cup. She tracked them down. HOW can I take this to the bank!!

I've been walking around. My knee is better. I had a shower today. I was thinking if the world is so great why do people want to have children. Maybe they like themselves. I'm wearing my new Roosters cap and people have been saying they go for other teams.

Also, somethings happening already to this website since I just got on. About a month ago I posted two pictures of myself and my dog, Sam, from 1977, and they ended up like you needed an electron microscope to see them. I'm eating right now two cans of sardines with tomato sauce. Very nice with a cup of tea. Good for the health as well, but maybe not for the environment. I agree with Stephen Hawking. I believe the human race is headed for a big let down. You can't do what where doing to the environment without consequences. Growth. Growth. The Dow Jones Index is up 2%.

Today: Day 1 of 7 of kiddo's Thanksgiving break. He was supposed to have early dismissal today and tomorrow, but after yesterday, I'm keeping him home.
(This will turn into a vent so if you'd rather not read anything negative, scroll past)
Yesterday, kiddo was in his usual morning mood (which is "everything pisses him off and always a few seconds away from a meltdown") but he kept saying he wanted to go to school, even though he doesn't do well with half days.
So he gets on the bus ok and while the aide is buckling him in, the driver tells me she will drop him off 10:30. So 3 hours from the time I'm putting him on the bus, meaning he would be in class less than 2 hours.
Then she closes the bus door and I hear the bus monitor yelling at my son because he smacked the window. I wouldn't mind her raising her voice if it stopped the behavior, but I have told this woman MANY times that the reason he is smacking the window to begin with is to get a rise out of her. He wants that reaction, so she's best to ignore him.
But she is an older woman who thinks she knows best, even though this is her first time interacting with kids with autism.
She complains constantly about kiddo's behaviors. She CHOSE to work at a job on a special needs bus, driving special needs students to a special needs school. Did she think they were going to sit quietly, hands folded in their laps????

Anyway, I decided the morning aggravation wasn't worth it for a couple hours of school and am keeping him home until school starts again next Tuesday. I'm sure I will regret it.

I also left a message for the teacher (who is great) telling her that I'm keeping kiddo home and that the bus aide was yelling again, so we'll see what happens there.

The other thing this bus monitor did was tell the kids if they act up she'll take them to the police station, which REALLY backfired in my son's case because he LOVES going to the police station (we are best friend's with the police chief and his family, so it makes kiddo's day to visit and get special treatment hahah...so he is being "bad" in the hopes of going to the police station...and now he asks her "can we go to the police station?" :D)
I crack up just thinking about it!

Definitely something the administration needs to hear (as well as about the yelling). This is NOT acceptable at all with any kid, but especially not with special needs kids. They already (often) have problems with new people--making them afraid of 'helpers' (police, doctors, etc) is a real danger.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

Meetings all day today, discussing goals for our kids that need help and how we're going to get to the end zone with the most kids benchmarking. My head hurts from thinking--lol.

On the nice side, I think I've been accepted by the school 'tribe': I was invited to the movies with them yesterday and for after work drinks today. Couldn't do either (had a special vocations class with my church school kids last night and Lil Man has been home alone for most of the day today--can't leave him this evening , too), but it's nice to be asked.

Tomorrow we go into T-Day mode--pie making and cleaning.

Maybe I DO need that drink... ;)

'Bout 14 degrees this morning on the f-scale so lying on my back on a shed roof nailing in vinyl soffit panels--that I had to bring into the currently vacant house to cut--was not fun, dirt falling on my face, ice chunks too. Am about 95%+ done with this vinyl siding job. Snow cover, only an inch or so fell the other day but with the cold it has remained. Did warm up some...30? Then I went out to the bush and sat in a tree, layers, one dresses in layers to stay warm. I've discovered one cannot turn a kindle page with gloves on. Need bare skin. Or a stylus. Had a deer down below munching on corn and apples and I finished one of the Sandford Prey stories as the deer fed. The other day after the big wind (Friday) I had nine of them come running in, unusual, as they live their lives as if every step they take carries the potential of danger. And danger is there for them. As is life. Two of them were three-pointers. Before the year is out I'll have venison in the freezer. That's not the goal...the goal is quiet time in the bush and that I am taking, as much as I can.

About the police station thing: the higher ups actually are the ones that told us about her saying that (sorry, but that is such an old person thing to say - scaring kids by threatening to call the cops...I 100% agree that it is ridiculous to make children fear "helpers")...and that we aren't the only ones having issues with the ladies on this bus. They are looking for replacements.
Kiddo started the year with a wonderful driver (who has an adult son with special needs...kiddo was VERY happy and driver didn't even need an aide to maintain control) but for some reason a few weeks into school year they replaced her (not her idea, I don't know what happened) and it really affected his morning mood :(
