A number of years ago...

Supervisor Sgt: "I assigned you a theft case to follow up on."

Me: "The stack of follow-ups on my desk is already a foot high Sarge."

Supv. Sgt.:"Well now..... I've apparently come along and just pissed ALL OVER your Cheerios this morning but...lemme think about for a sec....No, I'm still ok with assigning it to you. Get it done."

Me: "Roger that sir, and you look cute when you get pissy."

Supv. Sgt. (grumbling while walking away): "I stopped listening to you ten seconds ago and that's a very conservative estimate."

Good times..lol
It is fun messing with the boss..once I was sent to check on the welfare of a patient, who had walked away from an appointment with his doctor, one Dr Khan..well the guy was fine,no probs, but when I wrote up the quick incident report I noted "Subject was advised to contact his physician and comply with his directions,or Suffer the Wrath of Khan.." maybe the boss wasn't a Trekkie, but he sorta appreciated the reference..once he got done shaking his head and asking the ceiling,"Why me,Lord?"

Went outside early, quarter after six or so, used the Husqvarna to clear the driveway, ours and the neighbors. Went back in for a cup, went back out and cleared two other neighbors who asked me to keep them open this winter, $175 a month. Finished up around a quarter after eight, made a call to a customer where we replaced eight windows yesterday--customer was wanting an invoice so they could apply for this $70 per window rebate from EfficiencyUnited, limit of five windows this year, told them I'd be at the house by nine and I was. Eight degrees on the f-scale and we're getting hammered, wife said 30" by whenever. Yeah, 30. Why can't we get a nice little dusting and be done with it? Anyway, I went to Houghton, figured out the square footage of the glass on the windows installed yesterday, started to measure the exterior woodwork for aluminum wrap, got the first seven measured and said enough, hands cold, ran up to the truck to crank it over, start the heater. House is empty, will be rental when complete, customer was pulling in and we went in, showed them this that the other thing, they handed me a check. Finished measuring for aluminum wrap, cut and bent the aluminum for six windows...two that face a wrap-around porch will not be wrapped. Blowing snow, cold, said that's it for the day, headed home.

There's four inches at least in the driveway and no end in sight. Have some coffee brewing. I'm glad the furnace is working. Good day to kick back for a time and get some reading done. I'm up past a hundred for the year. Last six years I've averaged 125 read. Below that number but this weather keeps on no problem.

I received a copy of Siglo 20 (it is a mini-book that contains the photos of the philippines in different decades from 1900-1999. Most were in Architecture and Showbiz and events) signed by author last saturday. In Sunday, i went to the national museum and i have a opphoto of me and my brother in a window art of Baybayin (our old writing system)

I took my mom to get her blood work done today on my first day off this month. Her white counts are a bit high so she has to come back next week. I've got to figure out how she is going to get there if I have to work. She's been feeling really ill lately.

Right now I am dusting off my copy of Deep Purple's Made in Japan. It's storming outside and their twenty minute rendition of Space Truckin' seems completely feasible right now. I'd sit down and have a few beers while I listened to it but I don't have any beer in the fridge. Sucks being in between paydays right before Christmas.

We still don't have a tree yet. Probably won't get one. It will be the first time in a long time where we don't have one. Strange.

In a little bit I'll probably watch some more BBC's Sherlock on Netflix and some anime afterward.

jacobtlong -- can you ask your mom's doctor to request a transport to/from doctor appointments for your mom? There should be a company, or volunteer set up for such transports. Many do not drive and are unable to take public transport, or afford taxi/ uber.
How about a little table top tree. Doesn't have to be decorated. You could also take some empty boxes and wrap in paper. It gives the "feel" of Christmas. String some popcorn? Sending Love and Green Lights.

I'm not sure if we have any sort of volunteer transportation like that or not, honestly. I am going to talk to my boss. Even though the company I work for is hell when it comes to getting time off I think I have some bit of leeway. If not I might be able to talk my uncle into doing it if he isn't busy. I have an awesome close knit family when it comes to this. We'll find a way.

I think I want Christmas this year less for myself and more for my folks to try to cheer them up. Lot of bad juju has been going on this year. And cheering them up will in turn cheer me up.

I will think of something to brighten the gloom.

Another day of snow just not as much as the previous two three days. But more than a dusting so I had to use the Husqvarna to clear our driveway, the neighbor's (they brought over some cookies yesterday so I got paid), and two other neighbor's up the street. Those two neighbors handed me an envelope...Christmas card and some extra moolah, always appreciated. Village grader did not plow the roads, though. I think the Village crew had a break-down as Calumet Avenue had a big bank of snow running down one lane--they push it to one lane, use the Sno-Go to blow it into 12-yard dump trucks, and clear main street that way. Side-roads they just push it to the side and at some point during the winter they go through and cut the banks back with the Sno-Go and dump trucks.

Then...I put the snowblower in the back of the truck and hauled it to Atlantic Mine to make a path to six windows I'll be replacing there...next week looks like now, supplier is bringing them tomorrow. Customer is an Orthodox Catholic Church...guys inside look like monks...gray beards, black robes, three of them today when I stopped. The old buck asked me to measure...six...six more windows so I did that, sent a fax south, and there was a fax in the machine when I came back in from raking the roof and blowing the deck off. There was a curly-cue of snow hanging over the back end of the garage, hadtohavebeen as big as two Mark IV torpedoes laid end to end, bigger. POOF! Touched it with the roof rake and it let loose, felt a wave of cold air push past me. Raked some snow off a couple areas of our roof, over the kitchen and over the shop, blew that out of the way.

Stop by here see what's shaking, will kick back on the couch and do some reading in a bit. Not up to generating an estimate on those six windows right now. Leave that for the morning. I hope you're having a real good day. :)

Yale bought some books then I went to the shop and bought some Sushi but I didn't have anything to drink and the Wasabi burnt my mouth crack. Yale then I went and bought some books the best I liked was a H P Lovecraft one and another one about religion and on the back of it it said that J G Ballard thought it was really good. I went to see the movie 'Underworld' not today but a few days ago and I think that might be the last one. Yale then I did some exercises walking up flights of stairs and I talked to a fellow I know because he was walking his dog. I am trying to decide if I should read what Stephen King book next. I went to the bookstore and they had that book by George Beahm so I bought that but I wanted to get another copy of 'Night Shift' the one I got is getting a bit tattered.

You are always a busy fellow, Walt!

And...another day for the Husqvarna. Could just say this is life until late March, into April. Cold, too. Usually I wear a black & red plaid Mackinaw, wool, you don't feel like that kid in that movie. Christmas story? Had to pull out the Cabela's down jacket, hood. Have a pair of beaver mittens, chook. Did our driveway and the neighbor who gave me cookies. Heh! Later on today, I'll bring the empty container back, maybe I'll have snowflakes in my eyelashes, sniffle a couple times, say "thanks!" And then just stand there...grinning. "I really liked the chocolate chip!" (paper says we've had 47" of snowfall this winter)

Think I pulled a groin muscle, something, wrestling the blower through the bank the plow leaves. There's hard chunks in there, matt scraped up and left in a thick row. Hard to get through it. Two more driveways and then I head to Houghton, trim out those windows we put in on Monday, eight of them. At some point during the day the delivery truck from Marquette will be arriving and will need to head over to Atlantic Mine to unload those six windows. Generated an estimate this morning for that customer, they're looking at seven more windows. $3,145 that includes an aluminum wrap on the exterior. Triple-glaze, no-extra-charge now through some point in March, you get a better U-factor with that, about a .24 I think it is.

Waiting for the coffee to brew, drink a cup, then head out again. Still dark here. Wish they'd move the western U.P. to the same time zone that northern Wisconsin is on. 8 a.m. and it's still dark. Bunch of malarkey you ask me. Reading one of the last Prey novels from Sandford...this one is related to politics. He had one other had a political animal that got away with multiple murder. And that's the name of that tune. I hope you're having a real good day. :)

Braved deep snow and cold temperatures to go to church. The choir sang two songs with the children, one a calypso Christmas with which some of us were partly familiar and other parts we had never heard before in our lives until practice before church, the other "We Are the World," which of course everyone knew but my mom. She said she wasn't singing so no one gave her music. Thing is, we had no idea we'd be singing them back to back so having gone up front for the first one, Mom was stuck there for the second and had to hide behind others--luckily she is probably the shortest adult there so that was easy.

It was cloudy in the morning as it has been most of the time lately, but the sun came out in the afternoon and all was very beautiful. Went shopping, took out the trash, and shoveled the front walk. As much excitement as I could stand for one day.
