I'm on here right now, but also because the moderator was right about Zsa Zsa having the 'k' sound on the end of darling I looked up 'Green Acres' because I couldn't remember if it was Zsa Zsa or Eva Gabor in it. And I looked up the support cast and Hank Andersson was there who was in some Westerns. Hank Patterson

Picked up presents for everyone in the family and got them sorted and wrapped but not mailed. I was going to play Christmas DVDs while wrapping, or, I should say, boxing and labeling as I invested in preprinted boxes, but strange to say PBS ran a program on the history of the White House we decided to watch instead. It was fascinating but very sad contemplating how all our fine American traditions are about to be dragged through the muck. Felt unusually tired all day. I don't know why. Dealing with Christmas preparations is sort of a pain, plus maybe just the strain of waiting for the Electoral College vote yesterday and then the letdown. I was really hoping, if not actually expecting, that they would say it was all just a horrible mistake, a very bad joke dragged on too long, that they were sorry for upsetting everyone so much and hoped people could recover from the nasty shock and things could still be all right. Now there is no hope for improvement. We are all doomed. I am very discouraged. Not even sad as I have been on a couple of past Christmases, just too hopeless, not that I feel bad about not getting things done but that whether I do anything or not makes no difference. Just wondering when and how the end will come, what small last act of defiance I might be able to make before my insignificant pointless existence is snuffed out, and how many will go down along with me.

Picked up Adam the other day and we go to that church in Atlantic Mine, six windows had been delivered Thursday so we carry in a pile of tools, bring a couple sheets of Styrofoam over to the exterior of two big double hung on one side of the attached house and get into it. Use stepladders to hold the Styrofoam against the window openings. Head inside, pull stops, both trim and parting stops, sashes...they had these metal rails that make it difficult and had to bust up the upper sash to get them out, pull the pulleys at the top of the jambs, pull the small block of wood to access the sash-balance cavity, pull the cast-iron weights and ropes. Two windows side by side, Adam is unwrapping the new windows, saving the labels, I cut open the jamb so we can put fiberglass inside the cavity, get that done, nail the jamb back in place, Adam is sucking up the sawdust and other dirt, ready for a window, triple-glaze, heavy and I unlock the sashes, slide the lower sash up 'cause it is easier to lift that way, lift and stick the bottom on the sill and go to push the top in.

We're a little on the tall side. Adam is on the quiet side, doesn't say anything. What in the hell did they do? I lift the window out of the hole, set if on the tarp and lean it against the wall. Pull out the tape...measure three four times and it's still too short. Nothing you can do at this point, left the job file at home, I'm trying to remember if I have a fax copy of the order. Go start the truck, we'll take a break I'll make a call or two. The customer, this orthodox Catholic priest comes in 'bout that time, says how's it going. I fill him in.

So...looks like I have five double hung 28 x 64, three inches too tall, $1,500 worth, sitting in the basement. The one order I place via cell phone and it's fecked. Have the right size coming but this one sucks the big one. Doesn't help that the last three customers still haven't paid, all three previous customers, too. The one I'm betting I don't see it, ever, there's another three and a half grand gone. One lady I'm guessin she just spaced out the invoice...she got home and walked right past the new windows, called me up, and asked when I'd be installing. Heh! California will do that to you. She'd been out there, visiting.

Yesterday the weather cooperated and I managed to wrap the exterior of three windows on Edwards over in Houghton. Up behind the Hardees? Yeah. Up those hills there. Wrapped three before the wind picked up, more snow. Packed it in and went for a sandwich down the hill. Went home. Read. Should be able to wrap the other three today, have the aluminum bent and ready to go. Finish up. That customer already paid...in full. I never argue with that. I've learned not too. Best to be agreeable when the customer wants something.

Shopping. Almost made it home without too much damage (except to the wallet-lol), then got rear ended when I wasn't far from home :( Lady was screwing around with her kid and slammed into me. Now I have to wait for the insurance hoopla *sigh* My Subaru is a tank, so it doesn't show a lot of damage--the rear bumper is jacked up--but I'm worried because it knocked my car from 'drive' to 'park'. I don't know enough about cars to know if I should be worried about the transmission being damaged. Waiting for The Man to get home to ask.

Thankful all are OK. Make sure you watch for aches after a few days. Hope all insurance issues settle quickly.
