YouTube has the commercial listed as 1987, but I kinda think portable cell phones in that year all looked like this. For some reason I didn't think a phone that small appeared until 89 or 90.

Early 90s for the slightly smaller cell phones.
well, i love the 80's, but i was 4 for most of 87 so i don't recall that year particularly well lol. but i do love just about everything in this thread.

Well, you didn't know me back then!
I graduated from high school in 1987. I saw Predator at the drive in that summer. I think Misery was published that year, I remember reading it that winter. Hair bands were in full swing. I had some very stylish crispy rooster bangs. It's hard to believe that was 30 years ago.

When '87 came I was a 19-year old freshman business major at Notre Dame. I worked in the cafeteria washing dishes. I worked that summer at a cemetery, a great job because the customers never complained (hardy har har). That fall I returned as a sophomore and turned 20 years old in November. Really that's about all I remember about 1987, it wasn't particularly memorable, which in some ways is a good thing. I can't say the same for subsequent years.
Got a moped in 1987. SwiftDad brought it home for me one evening. Promptly started doing stupid things with it!

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' came out with that nearly movie length film clip. I went to see Predator. There's was the 'Black Thursday' I think they callled it Stock Market Crash. Manly won the grand final. Anything else? Didn't know if that was from the time of then. Other stuff, working, I still had my yellow Holden car. I turned 22 in January 1987.
