I absolutely love them in theory.

But a few months ago I was at my old house and all of a sudden something came soaring down the stairs at lightning speed. I was in its path and so I hit the ground, banging my head on the exercise trampoline as I went down. It flew into the bathroom and thank God I had enough sense to run and open the door that leads to the garage. It flew into the garage and I had the door cracked so I could see what it was. Wasn't completely sure it wasn't a bird until it settled onto the rafters and folded its wings under itself. That bat is probably still living in the garage for all I know. Nightmares and terror for weeks (and a dislocated shoulder and lump on my noggin)!

I will appreciate them from a distance (a great distance!) or in pictures. :smile2:
Wow, that was a well told story. I have a visual and I'm sorry that a bat caused you this trauma.

They always get stuck in my hair.
Really? That sounds distressing. I had a bat come close to doing that once, but I cut my hair very short. Also, the bats my house stay fairly well hidden.

I would welcome them (in theory) to fly closer.(but I'm pretty much a woosy girl, so in reality I would probably scream and run)

....I've told this story before, as a college freshman in 1979, my roomie and I were able to move into our dorm a bit early because his mom was the Deans secretary....as we started shlogging our crap up the hall, we noticed something flitting up and down the hallway...it was, of course, a bat...I had the bright idea of tossing my hat into its flight path and so much for echo location, it and my hat fell to the floor-whereupon my buddy stomps it....thus the bat in my hat(sorry Dr. Seuss)and my chapeau both met an untimely demise....
Oh no! That's a sad story, but very vivid.

I always find them fascinating creatures. :bat: I lived in a house a few years ago (this was 13th Street ) where bats mysteriously flew into the house on several occasions and we could never figure out how they got in ! One minute I would be saying oooh its adorable and then screaming and ducking cause its coming right AT you! My kids learned how to 'capture' them and 'put them out' unharmed.

One night all was quiet at around 2 in the morning I was in bed watching tv and I saw a shadow and sat up and it swooped right at me and began screaming waking everyone, I'm hiding under the covers and it was flying around and around my ceiling fan in unisom like an automated turning wheel , that took forever to catch that one!

The funniest time was when my brother had dropped by after work, he works in construction and didn't have on a shirt, it was still daylight of evening, so he was sitting at the computer and all of a sudden he felt something suddenly hit his face... and it was a 'bat wing' it landed right on his 'shoulder' and the fun began ! It was hilarious. ;-D I love bats too. :love_heart: and love all the bat videos!

thank you Nomi they are sweet memories. :smile2: this is a still shot of the bats over an old funeral home during a poltergeist from my Haunting portrait project, if you notice the slightest 'blue' in that sky, that is the color the full sky had been moments before, suddenly came those dark clouds absolutely filled with BATS swarming in wild winds, and this picture doesn't even reveal but a handful, there were honestly 100s of them. :bat:
