Watched Wrecking Crew earlier today on Netflix.

I liked it. Very interesting. Never realized how many hit records these guys (and woman- the very talented Carol Kaye) played on. Pretty hysterical that they played all of the stuff on Pet Sounds because the guys in the Beach Boys couldn't play what Brian Wilson was composing.

Also, who knew that Cher was once a back-up singer in the Ronnettes? Not me, that's for sure. Cher was lucky to even share a stage with Ronnie Spector.

Here's a top 50 list of docs on netflix. You may not agree with the list but you may find some good stuff you didn't know about.

Thank you for this link! Because of it, I learned about a docu called The Overnighters which was filmed a few hours from where I live and is about the oil boom in ND. It took me three days to finish it - very disturbing. I also researched it a little afterward and watched two short follow-up POV docus on PBS that were interesting as well.

Keith Richards - Under The Influence (2015)

A netflix original documentary. This is a look at Keith recording his new album (which was just released last week) while he gives a look back at his career. Good Stuff.
I started watching, but it made me sad so I quit after about 15 minutes. Will try to revisit at a later time.

Watched Iris on Netflix and was very inspired. It reinforced (in me) the importance of having a vision and how being passionate about learning, creativity and life can exist at all ages.

I watched one on Zombies last night, the Haitian practice of voodoo zombies, not movie zombies. It was pretty interesting! The guy who wrote The Serpent and the Rainbow was one of the main contributors--I didn't know that book was his graduate thesis!

That movie scared the H*LL outta me!
Most of the movie was made up--lol. He addressed that people have been pretty mean to him for 'selling out', and I loved his reply. It was something like: "You try being a starving graduate student. If someone offered you hundreds of thousands of dollars for your graduate theses, you'd take it, too, no questions asked." :)

Is that docu on Netflix? I saw The Serpent and the Rainbow when I was quite young, so don't remember much more than being scared shyteless! :)
