My Dad was a navy man as well, 23 years. His last years were with the Navy's Blue Angels. I joined the Corps. "The Crucile" is the culmination of the Marine's training, after weeks of hard work, practical application over several sleep deprived days. At the end of which the young Marines are awarded their Eagle, Globe, and Anchor collar emblems. The symbol that they are now members of the Corps of Marines.
My reply to that original post was an indication that I was an OLD Marine. I graduated in May of 77. They hadn't started the Crucible at that time...LOL. It came much later.
