It's out for publication. Our own cat in a bag looked at this and gave it a thumb's-up, although it's been added to and refined since her vetting. Still, I'm thinking it would still meet approval.

I think of the books and stories that I've done, it's this one that would appeal most to a crowd that enjoys the books of our Gracious Host. I could be wrong. But that's what I'm thinking.

It is a great story, everyone! Has a little of everything, mystery, suspense, action and just a touch of the supernatural.

It was my pleasure to help out with it, Grandpa. I like what you did with the cover! Matches the story within very well. :okay:

I wanted to time the latest tome in time for Christmas. Now available on Amazon:

If you want zombies, or dystopia, or a board game between divine adversaries, this isn't it. This is you and me, finding ourselves a the seemingly lone survivors in a world gone dead, with the terror, opportunities, loneliness, and reaching out that would accompany that horrific event.

Well... maybe not quite just you and me. There is Romance, Battle, a Villain, a Hero, a Love Interest, a Plucky Young Survivor, a couple Curmudgeons, and other various personalities that we come to love. Or not.

And just for my people here in this wonderful place, an excerpt from the last section, "The Author's Final Note":

"The book started out with the intent of being a political discussion. My thought was having just two old guys survive, one conservative and one liberal, and their dialogue would serve as my proxy political essays. But as Stephen King notes in On Writing, a story has its own life, and it’s up to the writer to uncover it. Besides, as I write this in late 2016, most are pretty well fed up with politics for the moment. I just didn’t expect the story to morph into a poor man’s version of Mr. King’s The Stand. But that’s what was there, waiting to be uncovered."
.....
"Speaking of The Stand: Yes, there are similarities. Most of humanity gets wiped out by a virus. The survivors band together. But as stated, the initial idea of an apocalypse was to bring the two old guys together. And supernatural things don’t enter into my story. I had no intention of trying to emulate Mr. King’s fine book in any way."

As with my prior release, our own cat in a bag previewed this one and declared it satisfactory.

If you're interested, search for the author's name on Amazon. And thank you, Gracious Host, Marsha, and mods for allowing this section.

sounds really good! If it's half as good as your shorter works, it may put you on the best sellers list :)

....of course he will be sharing the royalties with the lot of us.....

At this incredible rate of sales, I'll be happy to share the royalties. A nice lunch for everyone!

I mean a lunch for everyone. That's about what the royalties will buy. Once nice lunch. You all get a french fry and a bite of the sandwich or salad. And don't be greedy.

Actually, if anyone would be in line to share a royalty, it would be DiO'Bolic. You know, the sapling that grows isn't always what you expect from the seed that you plant. In this case, in a backdrop of my and DiO's political debates, I was thinking how to make a political discussion between two curmudgeons entertaining and still get out both sides fairly. I thought, I know! They're the last two left after the apocalypse!

That was the seed. The sapling ended up being another species entirely. But that's what got the story started. Maybe the analogy isn't quite right. It went from a cactus to a maple. Yeah, that sounds better.

Okay, my day is made. Someone asked if they bought a book and sent it to me, could I sign it for their father's Christmas present.

If that's the one sale I make this weekend, it's a great weekend.
....I already knew your heart was 10 sizes larger and kinder than average....this just confirms it.....also, how many books HAVE you written and are for sale?....I know it's been included in other of your posts, but my absent-mindedness wins again....

You are far too kind, Scott. Thank you very much.

I've written two novellas, a collection of short stories, and three full-sized novels. All of that, except for one novel, is for sale. I'm looking at March 15 for a release date of the the unpublished work.
