I've been disappointed that the oldies format has changed and music from the 50s and 60s are no longer played on the radio. I've relied on Spotify to get my fix.

Any other fans out there? Any favorite bands or songs?

One of my favorite jams!

Songs from the seventies and eighties are now played on our oldies station… yikes! There are so many great oldies from the fifties and sixties; it would be hard to pick a favorite. I play a lot of them on my acoustic guitar-- "Sea of Love", "Only You", "Sealed With A Kiss", "Windy", "California Dreamin'", etc… You gotta love the Doors, the Kinks, the Beatles… and we can't forget Motown, surfer music, folk music, psychedelic music… too many bands and individual artists to mention. There were even some excellent "one hit wonders". So much talent! So much great music!

From what I've read, the fan base for 50s and 60s has dropped dramatically so radio stations have had to switch to the 70s and 80s. It's too bad. Our Oldies radio station in Los Angeles did this and it was heartbreaking...

That is seriously tragic!! Theres so much to listen to there. Here there are stations that play mostly oldies.

The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
As far as the 50s go:
Les Paul and Mary Ford - how high the moon.

many of us still like the real oldies, others favourites of mine include Mr sandman by the Chordettes, dream by the everley brothers, and a bit later, pictures of matchstick men by status quo in the late 60s, very unlike traditional quo, very much part of the Hendrix, early pink Floyd psychedelic era.
