I've been making a list of maybe 5 or 6 books that I am planning on ordering from Amazon... I still have a couple months before I can order, but I'm getting an idea of what I want.
I haven't personally bought books this way- I've received gifts and one of the books (The Bachman Books) was in pretty bad shape.
I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice on which sellers on amazon are reliable... I want the books to be in good condition and not get banged up during shipping(I keep hearing this happens with Amazon)...
I'm going to be buying hardcovers, from the "new" category. I really want to buy a trade paperback copy of Cycle of the Werewolf.
I would appreciate any positive/negative feedback from people that have dealt with Amazon.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I order a ton of stuff from Amazon. First and foremost, check the sellers score. Under their name it will say a number, and positive. Like 100%, or 90%. If possible go with the 100%. If you click on that you can read the feedback from people. It will say if they have any negative feedback, and the buyer explains why. I have a few sellers I look for every time if I want something from there. One is named gohastings from Texas. He really has quality stuff. Another is import cds. This seller has more than just cd's.

Hi.

Just my experience. The times I have ordered from Amazon I have had a ton of trouble getting things delivered in a timely manner. For instance, I will be notified said book will be delivered between June 6th- June 10. I'll check on the status of the book and on June 8th and 9th I will get "Preparing to ship'. (Why does it take 48 hours to "Prepare" the book for shipping?)

Other times the promised delivery date will come and go w/o notifying me. I have to call and I'm told said item is out of stock. (WTH? I ordered it because it said they had X amount in stock!!!!)

I won't do Amazon anymore or at last resort.

Again, just my experiences.

Good luck!

Peace.

I've never had a problem with Amazon-- either with them or their independent book dealers. The more obscure the book, the longer it might take to get it but that's not a big deal with me because I'm just happy they have it in the first place. As for delivery, it's supposed to get even more efficient when they start using drones. Sounds funny, but that's their goal.

My first focus is on a seller's "feedback", or as pegasus calls it, "score". I've been dealing on eBay for ages, and decided there not to do business with anyone who has a feedback profile amounting to less than 99.4%. This boundary drew itself.

Amazon doesn't show feedback scores in decimal units. I find this too limiting to a buyer trying to secure a good transaction, so I tend not to buy from Amazon unless it's an item I can't easily find elsewhere. Used books can be found all over the place, and for a long time for books I've used Half.com, choosing it over Amazon and eBay, which both charge more for s/h.

I practice the same feedback restraint at Half.com that I learned at eBay and have been very satisfied with my Half.com experience so far. The fact that Half.com is an eBay company enters not into a discussion per how to trust a seller; that can only be achieved by listening to what customers say about sellers in feedback profiles.

I've never had an issue with either the delivery time or condition of goods when ordering from Amazon, but I've only ordered books and movies. I like to order when my total is over $35, so I can get the free shipping (that adds up quickly with hardbacks).

I'm interested in Half.com! I've not heard of it before now.

I've bought a ton of books at Half.com for 75¢ each. S/h is a little cheaper than at eBay and Amazon, so I think it's a great place to get used books. Most of the ones I've bought have been in really good shape, too.

When I buy books, I buy almost exclusively from Amazon, sometimes from their independent sellers. I've also bought many different items on Amazon such as shoes, clothing, a lava lamp, DVDs, make-up, running accessories, a flat iron and art supplies.
I have never had any damaged books/materials or any problems with delivery. I buy so much from them, I paid $79 to be an Amazon Prime customer. This allows me free shipping and two-day delivery every time. I also get free instant video, lending library, prime music, etc. Plus, I have a Kindle, so it's great for downloading exactly what I want right when I want it. Anytime I've had to return something (wrong size of clothing/shoes, etc.), it's been an easy process.
When I think about buying anything, my mind automatically goes to Amazon first because of the great shopping experiences I've always had!

When I think of buying certain things I think of Amazon, too. I never used to. I guess back then I was so into eBay that that's where I'd automatically look. Nowadays I rarely look at eBay. I got turned off by s/h ripoffs which so many sellers started getting into. Now, though, I've noticed lots of sellers offer free shipping. I've always loved that.

I use Amazon all the time, and I have Amazon Prime so everything ships for free, in two days and is always on time or sometimes a day early... there is a big Amazon warehouse near me so when things come from there I tend to get them in one day. Amazon is great... I say that about half on the things I buy (that aren't food... although I do also buy some food from them) I buy from Amazon. I seriously get about two deliveries a week from them. When they decide to drop Prime, or raise the price significantly, you can blame me.

Did you know Amazon Prime is increasing from $79 to $99? I got an email that stated when I renew it'll be $20 more:apologetic::chew:

Mine already got that bump and to add a little insult to injury their 2 day delivery is stretching out to 3 or 4 days a lot of times. They did recently add the free music streaming and I do use the Instant Video but the reason I got the Prime membership was for the 2 day delivery. :glare:

To add more insult to injury lol... I don't have amazon prime, I use the free delivery which is supposed to take 5 to 8 business days but ever since prime began, I've been getting my purchases in 3 to 4 days. I suspect their shipping department may be only set up for one speed :)
