OK. Here's the long answer:
If you're not much of a reader, think of the film that you really love which was inspired by a book. Find that book and read it.
If you're religious, read something about your faith.
If you want to read great stories that will take you out of yourself, over the hills and far away. . well, it's the man himself SK.
If you have a hero(ine), read his/her autobiography/biography.
The short answer:
Read something, anything.
You may have to read a lot of books until you find The Book.
It's a bit like looking for Mr/Miss/Ms Right.
But easier
This is the hardest question I've been asked in a very very long time.

Probably "Homecoming," which I read first and with which I greatly identify (although there are about four versions running around)!
Original magazine version, similar version in the book Dark Carnival (Bradbury's first story collection published the year Stephen King was born!), revised for collection The October Country, rewritten for novel From the Dust Returned. He both picked up and lost some good material with that last one.
