You do have to wonder how a suspect animal got that close to a 7 month old.
Exactly. I'm getting ready to try to get pregnant and I have two cats who like to cuddle. My husband and I haven't even STARTED trying yet and we already scheduled our lives around toenail cutting so that we get into the habit, and we've discussed how to keep the cats off the sleeping future baby. I'm guessing this cat was not treated very well, which makes it a sad story, not a funny one. In my very long experience with cats, they get upset and move on. They don't tend to stand their ground unless they are being attacked.

We've never had a cat behave in such a manor. Never kicked one either. Never been owned by a Himalaya so I can't say if they are a bit flighty or not. Hopefully this was just an odd occurrence and doesn't reveal a deeper pattern of abuse. But you have to wonder with that "history."

Wishing you the best of luck on starting a family. Remember practice makes perfect........:D

What bothers me is that the cat was returned to the family. Cats and babies/ cats and dogs can get along. There are other issues here. I'd suspect a degree of mistreatment to the cat. And definitely see it when the cat was kicked. There are ways to have cats and babies in the same household. The video has the police officer stating "mediation". I think the family, if they keep the cat, needs a visit for Jackson Galaxy ( the Cat From Hell- Animal Planet).

It really irritates me that they talk about kicking a cat like it's no big deal. This entire story makes me livid.

I hadn't heard about the cat being kicked. Does make you wonder if that's common enough in their household to make a mean cat.

Cats & babies can get along fine. We had cats when we first got married, and never had any problems with them hurting (or endangering in any way) the kids. The worst that happened is that our girl kitty (my baby) got jealous for a little while after our daughter was born and wanted to pee on anything of hers left on the floor. We got over that hump & everything was fine until she died of old age. Unfortunately, our oldest daughter developed allergies, so when our big boy kitty died (at 17) we didn't get another.
