Perhaps some others have already pointed this out. I found out recently by searching on Amazon that there is another "Stephen King" who also publishes in the horror genre. Save yourself some money and anger: this guy is not the Stephen King about whom you are here.
I don't want to generate any sales for this dude, and it's probably not illegal to have the same name in the same business (unless it's been trademarked, and I'm not sure you can do that with a name for which you have a birth certificate) but can you imagine a new band calling themselves The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
When in doubt, check it out before spending money. If it's not listed on this site, it's probably not the real thing.

I like how you spell "spelt" - I got picked up on that spelling when I was at Herzing College - instructor marked it as incorrect

Had the same problem while reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. I said to myself, I says, "this is the same guy who wrote Look Homeward, Angel?"

Not really. One's a Tom, one's a Thomas, I knew that, and they're both great.

That 'King' scammer can't fool me, or any self-respecting Contant Reader. He outta be ashamed of himself.

That reminds me of the guy in "Office Space" whose name was Micheal Bolton. And he was always being asked about the singer. If this guy was born Stephen King, then good luck to him. It's that Billy Shakespeare guy I have issues with.

I'm facing that one, maybe (though not on anything approaching the same scale, of course). I've finally gotten around to writing seriously. When I start submitting for publication, there is a Steve Vance who started writing sci fi and horror back in the 1980's. Thankfully, he isn't exactly a household name. I figured I'd go with Steven M. Vance to differentiate, just in case.

I've seen a couple of other cases, lately, of famous writers with people who have similar/same names, but can't quite remember who they are. I think Dean Koontz might have someone spelling his name similarly now, too.
