Let's start this thread off with some folks that are angry at Jacoby Ellsbury for signing with the hated Yankees (The Yankees once again give a ridiculous long term contract to a guy over 30). Here are a few twitter posts from fans that think Ellsbury is a "trader" :biggrin2: (We wear our 26th in education ranking proudly) WARNING - there are a few f-bombs in this (they are spelled correctly, however)

Certainly seems that way. Yanks lost a lot of runs losing those two today......Ha Ha!

I think they were correct with Cano. They will miss him but a 10 year contract for a 31 year old is not good when you are already paying the last 4 years of A-Roid's deal plus others. If I was a GM, I would never give a big contract that extended past age 35 or 36.

R.I.P. Ralph Kiner - I spoke briefly with Ralph once after a spring training game he was announcing. It was in the late 80s when the Mets opened their new spring training facility close to me. I ran into him outside the stadium after the game and exchanged a few words with him. It was very cool to have a conversation with a hall of famer.

The WTH signing of the day is AJ Burnett to the Phillies for 16 Million.

A 37 year old pitcher with career numbers of 147-132 with a 3.99 ERA that struggles to stay healthy. I don't have an issue with them signing him but for 16 million?

I used to watch AJ when he was young and pitching for the Marlins. When he was on and healthy (two words that didn't intersect very often) he was as good as anyone. Even at his best, he was a little wild. He had a no hitter with the Marlins but he walked 9 in the game.

Kinda makes sense since Hamels is iffy for the early part of the season. But $16 million for 1 year? Well the Phillies are adding 1,600 new seats and increasing 52% of the ticket prices so they must have money to burn. I’m still boycotting the Phillies and won't go to a game since they lied to us, and said they would let us have my uncles plaque from their "Wall of Fame" when they tore down the vet, and then went and auctioned it off without even giving me an opportunity to bid on it.

Who's your uncle? A player?

I was at the new stadium a few years ago when it was new and it was very nice. I don't know if things have changed but the only thing that I didn't like was that it was so far out of the city, there wasn't much around it. I love the downtown parks with all the restaurants and bars around the park.
