Hmmm.....tough one, he certainly deserves it for his defensive genius.

Definitely, when it comes to defensive ss I think of 2, ozzie and omar. But a lot of people forget how good omar was with the bat. I think he was just 100 or so short of 3000 hit club . Only 35 or less players to ever play the game have done that. More hits than Lou gehrig,, ruth, teddy ballgame, manny, griffey, brook Robinson etc. A lot of big names he beat. .272 lifetime hitter. Dude could definitely swing the club. That with the defense should b 1st ballot hof. I think this is his 5th year since retirement. Have to check. Which means eligible this coming lot . We shall see. Not to mention he played right threw the height of steroid era. And he never popped for that. Never even ever mentioned. Or is it never ever even mentioned? Hmmm

Nope. Yanks don't make the WS. Not enough starting pitching and Joe Maddon ruined Chapman in the 2016 WS.
Last year’s Yankees won 91 games and finished with a 198+ run differential. I think it was the best. And they’ve made some good additions. I’m guessing Yankees get 95 wins this year... just surpassing the Red Sox with another 93. I read the Yankees have also improved the fastball by 4mph with their lineup. The rivalry between the two teams will definitely be exciting in 2018. In the AL... Go Yankees!

Yankees do have power but will it be enough? They will win a lot of games 8-7, 10-9, etc. If Chapman continues to have the yips he had last year then they have problems because their starting 5 is suspect.

Red Sox have addressed their power issues and should have bounce back years from Betts and Bogaerts (who had a hand injury all year). Sox starting 5 is better and they owned both Judge and Stanton (in limited interleague play) last year. If Sale can avoid the late season fade Sox win more than the 93 games they won last year. Sox also have a lot of bench depth. Yankees do have a slight edge in the bullpen with stronger middle relievers but that bullpen will be working hard all year for them. Closer is a wash. Barring major injury to either team I'm predicting Sox / Yankees ALCS.

Today, the Marlins gave up a home run on the first pitch of the season. That's a bad start to what is going to be a long season. The Marlins' outfielders better invest in some neck braces. All that turning and watching balls fly out of the park is tough on the neck. ;-D
They'll probably still do better than the Phillies. :(

...Chapman had the same problem when he was with the Reds....once his rhythm gets a bit dotty, the wheels fall off.....

Well, the Sox first game was great for the first 7.5 innings. Middle relief stunk up the joint. Went from a 4-0 lead to being behind 6-4. Rays damage was done mostly on walks. Chris Sale gave up 1 hit and gets a no decision. Hopefully, this was an aberration because it will be long season and short tenure for Alex Cora if this develops into an early season trend :(

So, Sox went 3-1 in Tampa. Would have been 4-0 if the bullpen didn't implode in the first game.

So far, starting pitching has been outstanding. Kimbrel was impressive in the 2 games he closed. Matt Barnes has been good out of the bullpen. The rest of the relievers need to show they can pitch well consistently.

Offense hasn't gotten going yet but that should come.

My team the indians set an AL record for most wins in a row then lose in ALDS best of 5. Year before up 3-1 in series and drop 3 in a row. It's about who is hot at the right time. U can have 110 wins and lose in the series against the other leagues wild card team who just snuck into the playoffs bc they peaked at right time. Save your streaks to the end of year.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Red Sox' Opener's today... They're home at Fenway Park,
Where the wind chill feels like it's below the freezing mark.
Fans will bundle up in layers and make a joyous sound
When the Red Sox take the field and Price steps on the mound.

I refuse to make predictions about who will win;
('though we've started 5 and 1) it's still a sports gods' sin.
It is much too early to risk jinxing anything...
Up here, where the Red Sox play, it isn't even spring.

They're predicting snow tomorrow - Saturday, as well.
After that they say we'll have a lengthy, chilly spell.
At the rate that temps are falling down on Yawkey Way
We should just delay the Red Sox. Let the Bruins play.
