At the end of Armageddon, and at the end of the credits, there are photographs shown which gives you a glimpse of the movie character’s lives some time after the space adventure. I thought it was a great way to end the movie. But you never get to see the true ending whenever it is shown on TV.

I'll have to take some time to compile a list, but off the top of my head:

Planet of the Apes - hands down the best twist ending in cinema.
Skeleton Key - a vastly underrated horror film; when the big reveal was made, I was blown away.

Watchmen. Much as I love Alan Moore, I thought Zack Snyder's ending made a little more sense. All that faux inter-dimensional alien crap from the comic just never convinced me--no way would such an event bring about world peace.

of course, Rorschach's journal makes either ending null and void, so...

Hhhhrrummmhhh...

I like Shutter Island the movie a lot more than I like the book, and I think one of the main reasons for that is that when I was reading the book I remember thinking to myself while still on the opening chapter, "Oh man, I'm going to be so disappointed if it turns out that
He was the patient all along
. And that's just what happened. The film works a lot better for me and I kind of wish I'd seen it before I read the book.

There's a B-movie called The Hamiltons that got me with the ending. I was truly surprised--thought they were going a completely different direction. The movie as a whole is somewhere north of 'decent', nothing wonderful (but not terrible, either), but that ending... yeah. It was good.
