Kat was over to her other grandmother's house last Friday, and got 2 bug bites on one of her hands. It is now swollen. Any advice of what to do, besides taking her to a doctor.

Ouch! - poor kid - sorry to hear about it - calamine lotion is also good for insect stings/bites and/or rashesKat was over to her other grandmother's house last Friday, and got 2 bug bites on one of her hands. It is now swollen. Any advice of what to do, besides taking her to a doctor.
That's funny! (thanks for the laugh)She was outside, Neesy. Her other grandmother doesn't know what planet this is, let alone what happened. Someone at Karen's church told her about calamine lotion, so Karen picked some up on the way home.
She is going to try the vicks vaporub tonight before she goes to bed.
I also remember the baking soda mixture when I was a kid.
Byran, I have heard of that before! I saw something on TV about it not long ago.
Seems likely to me that its was the same insect, so it wasn't a bee (a bee dies after it stings). Since she hasn't had a more serious reaction than swelling in the hand, then she seems not at risk for an anaphylactic reaction - one that would show an obvious, immediate need for 911; though, the swelling does suggest an allergy to whichever critter bitter (I suspect mosquito), since such swelling usually only occurs via allergy.Kat was over to her other grandmother's house last Friday, and got 2 bug bites on one of her hands. Yer a little more retart, eh?Chop off the hand.
No, don't that it.
I'm just a little more retart than usual after finishing a good short story. The glow of "DONE!"
After that I need to polish it, and I might actually touch the story up a bit, too.
Hope everything's fine with the little girl. Solid recos from all the cool folks here.
- A friend of mine got stung by a jelly fish. I wanted to try that, but alas, I have the wrong equipment to make that work. Not that it matters at this point (sure everything's fine by now), but I was in, on, and around the coastal water a lot when I was younger.
Two friends (at different times) got Portuguese-Man-O-Warred. Luckily small ones, but you couldn't have told by the screams.
Vinegar is supposed to work.
We didn't have any vinegar.
We pissed on our friends.
It worked.
She believes in all that voodoo crap. My son-in-law says that is why there is a ghost in their house because of some sh!t she did there.
I told Karen not to let her do anything to Kat!
Send THAT to Mythbusters and see what they do with it. They've done other remedies for Jellyfish stings, vodka, orange juice, vinegar. I wonder if they'd find a way to test that theory. Two friends (at different times) got Portuguese-Man-O-Warred. Luckily small ones, but you couldn't have told by the screams.
