As promised, although I'm still doing some tweaking and finishing details, here are pictures of my studio space and reason for working beyond original retirement date. I'm posting them somewhat in order to orient them to the space but may have to do this in more than one post to get all the pictures in. Finally got the chance to start my first project after setting everything up. Even though I have a lot of sewing projects in various stages of completion, I decided to do weaving instead. My aunt asked me to make kitchen towels that she will give as Christmas gifts and I'd been wanting to do weaving for a while now but didn't have a good spot to put the loom until now. To be continued . . . :smile2:

It looks amazing M, you did a fantastic job! You have worked so hard for this, I'm so happy that you're now finally getting your dream studio.

Oh My! Your crafting room is wonderful! Yep, I'm jealous :)

Y'know the bookcase in one of your photos with the roadrunner on top and the pottery on the shelves? Did you make the roadrunner and the pottery?

I didn't make the roadrunner. That was given to me by my cousin who had gotten it from my grandmother who got it from her brother when he was living in AZ a few decades ago. ;-D She thought that with my connection to AZ I would like it. She's since moved from NC to AZ but hasn't asked for the roadrunner back, so I'm keeping it. ;) The pieces that look like pottery are actually gourds, several of which are still works in progress. I put them out on the hutch so they'd be less out of sight, out of mind and have a better chance of getting completed. That's the theory anyway. We'll see how long it takes before they're finished.

I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that those were gourds lol. What will they be when you finish them?

Is that a metal detector next to the rolls of fabric? I guess a metal detector could be helpful finding lost needles and small tools.

The gourds are just decorative although you can use them for food storage with the proper finishing. I've never done that so not sure exactly what that entails.

You had me scratching my head about the metal detector. ;-D What you're seeing is an OTT light that I've bent down so the lamp part is out of the way while I'm not using it. It also has a magnifying glass for detail work. It looks like this when it's upright

This is the ultimate crafting space! It’s beautiful! How will you ever decide which crafting station to sit at?

I'm parked at the weaving station when I'm in there lately. :smile2: For someone like me who needs to be doing a lot of different things, it's absolute heaven. I've got plans to ask a few friends if they would like to do a RARE bear sewing party now that I have the room. I've got the pattern and applied to become a donor. It will probably have to wait until after the holidays but should be a nice winter diversion and be for a good cause at the same time.

That is a great idea! I did a pillowcase charity for kids who are in your local hospitals. Those were fun to make and quick.

I've thought about making the Linus blankets to carry on my grandmother's tradition but the bears sounded like more fun to make and a good way to use up some of the fabric I have that is kid-themed. Have been doing a lot of quilts lately so needed a break from that.

Oh, I think the bears are great! They are super cute and I love that you just can throw a ton of fabric in them. I have a ton of cute novelty prints that would be fantastic for those. hmmmmmmm

You don't even have to stuff them (other than the ears) if you don't want to which also helps with the cost of shipping them back. It cost me more for the shipping than the price of the actual pattern. :glare:

Oh, that would be great! You had to pay for the pattern? That's a bummer as usually charities give you the pattern for free.

Random thought-- I wonder if some non sewers who would like to partake in this program could offer to offset the postage cost as their contribution.
