And you see all these little things? As I was landscaping my yard, I found these various treasures buried in the ground from when my kids were little. They are 20 and 24 now. Anyway, I took all these little toys and a few more not pictured that I found after the photo was taken and I made a stepping stone with them. It is now in my garden.

How precious! I recognize some of those - that green guy holding the log - there was a set of whatever that belonged in my daughter's stuff (she's 22 nowO. How cute to find them there after years. I wish I could have kept all the kids between the ages of 3 and 5 - we would just live so peacefully and happily forever.

My mom didn't keep our stuff - I don't know what she did with it.

aha - I found my pictures! We have a new program at our church -its a Montessori based religious ed for young children, and I asked them what I could do to help, and they gave me the task of making the figures for the The Last Supper. The Centacle was purchased not made, but did varnish it - no staining, it just had this naturally beautiful color. I didn't think I could do it, I'd never made figurines, but here it is - (I said a prayer over each one).cgs1.jpg

Maybe that's what angels look like! :D
What are your figures made of? Love them!
Sculpy and lots of love - they were fun to make. Did you notice all the different races? Who knew there were Irish and Scottish and Asians at the Last Supper? But I prayed while I worked on them and because our parish is so diverse it seemed important to make sure everyone had a rep. I've got a while to complete the Annunciation, wings are hard.

Could you just sculpt the angel as you did for the others and use a different medium for the wings- like feathers or stiffened lace??

Maybe do the wings with craft feathers?

That's a great idea! that might make all the difference in the world. Sculpy doesn't work well when it needs to be thinned out, and wings don't look right if they're too thick. I'll give that a try! You may have just solved my problem, @Spideyman !

I like the feather idea a lot but another possibility would be to make an armature with wire that you mold the clay onto. Maybe something like an 18 or 20 gauge so it wouldn't be too heavy. Never tried it so it might not work but just a suggestion.

Another good idea! I'm going try it all and see what works. I'll post the pix if I ever get it right.
