The folding was the easy part- trying to get 8 piece to interlock and stay as you added each one was the fun part!
It all looks so easy when somebody else does it. That's a very beautiful box.

Oh. My. Lord. That is just gorgeous. A girl and the correct tools can do some awesome things! Finally got a picture of the quilt in progress that shows the quilting. It's a little wrinkled from all the manhandling it's been getting doing the quilting. Some of you may recognize this pattern as Irish Chain. There are 8 rows of the off-white blocks with 5 in each row. I'm doing each row a different pattern but all 5 in that row are the same. Still have 3 full rows and 3 blocks in another to finish and then bind it. The binding is all done ready to be sewn on. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be ready by Christmas.

If she does not display appropriate quilt-worthiness when she gets it, I may just take it back as it could (I would make it!) work even on my king size bed.Oh. My. Lord. That is just gorgeous. A girl and the correct tools can do some awesome things!
Absofrigginlutely. If she is not quilt worthy, quilt comes home!If she does not display appropriate quilt-worthiness when she gets it, I may just take it back as it could (I would make it!) work even on my king size bed.

It's done on my sewing machine. I'm using the walking foot to try to keep the lines straight and use free-motion quilting in the centers of the ones that have the curves. I've got it down to taking a little over an hour to do each block but the one with the diamond in the center and cross-hatching in the corners around it took me 2-1/2 hours. I figure I have another 20+ hours to finish the quilting and then add the binding. I could do it faster if I didn't have to turn the quilt around each time I need to go in a different direction. With a queen size quilt that's giving me quite a workout for my arms and shoulders! If I had the money and space I'd buy a long-arm quilting machine in a heartbeat.Oh wow! I love the pattern! Is the stitching design within the cream colored blocks all done by hand? It would take me 40 years to complete something like that.
That's the backup. I upgraded to a Mercedes of sewing machines modelsMs. Mod at her sewing machine............
