Is that thumb on his nose and giving a raspberry, or poking himself in the eye? I'm not sure it matters...but enquiring minds want to know.

Well...here's a funny story about a friendly Canadian. I hope I can describe so you can envision it.
My son (not the polite Canadian apparently) put his thumb to his nose, wiggled the fingers, and made a raspberry....blowing out with his tongue sticking out a bit. (Everyone calls that a raspberry?)
It is not a polite sign. My friend (she is the polite one) had never seen this sign and thought it was funny. She tried to do it. My friend (she is not the brightest Canadian either) hurt herself in the effort.
She put her thumb to her lips, wiggled her fingers, and sucked...really hard. Her thumb flew into her mouth, and her long nail cut her.
The rest of us (not being the polite Canadians) laughed hysterically.

Canada *is* awesome. Your cities are so clean! And your money is so awesome. And your maple syrup is so plentiful! Please, consider allowing me to immigrate.

I never will understand why Americans are opposed to single-payer healthcare. ::shrug::
When I was in Toronto, I actually met a guy (Canadian) who had broken his arm playing backyard football in Upstate New York. He made his friends drive him *back across the border* rather than risk the mess that is the American emergency medical system. Nice guy, though. Took me to Tim Hortons.

Yep! After I got over my shock at how little the drinks were, when compared to American sizes. Like, your XL is about the same size as an American medium. Maybe a little smaller, actually.
Wow. You guys probably love coffee as much as we love beer.
I think we just like big everything. An American "Large" soda, for example, is usually 32oz (947ml). But 7-11s sell 44oz (1301ml) and 64oz (1892ml) sizes, too.
Wow. When I think about the sugar that is ingested from these sodas, it makes me cringe. In Canada,too, we need to concentrate on smaller servings of food and drink.
I have to admit to pretty much living on fizzy sugar water. I'm better than I used to be, but still not great. And no one, anywhere, ever, needs 2 freaking liters of any kind of beverage *except* water. I can't even *pick up* the largest size 7-11 sells unless I use both hands.
That is definately overkill lol. Working off and on as a certified chef, I have been scandalized over how much food is thrown away on a plate....and I worked at high end eateries where food is very expensive. Most public eateries give way too big servings. Only a small number of people can actually eat it all. I have long complained about this saying we should give smaller portions and reduce the price a wee bit or, at least, give folks a choice of what size entree. What waste there is in the Western World.
Totally agree on the waste front. We're trying to teach the Tiny Blonde Tyrant not to take more food than she can eat (she's still pretty terrible at it, since she isn't even three yet). Working as a chef must be cool, though! I dig food. With a serious digging.
