I met Kris Kristofferson once. We were getting on a plane from Dublin to Scotland and had to get a bus from the terminal to the plane. My husband and I got separated in the line to board the bus and our son was only four at the time so hewas with me. Kris let us on ahead of him and made sure we got a seat. He even tipped his hat and said ' thats a mighty fine boy you have there ma'am. I said thatks and then we were at the plane. I also met Shane McGowan of the Pogues. It was in the chemist shop across from the American Embassy in Dublin. I was getting my sons passport renewwd and we needed a new photo. He was in there doing the same. Also pie eyed at 9 a.m.. I asked him if I could shake his hand and he said anything for the ladies and kissed the back of his hand. My son was 13 and moritified. Later we saw him again as we were leaving and he tipped me a wink.

I went to a Muse concert at the Staples Center. I went to the restroom, washed my hands and I saw Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. I saw his reflection in the mirror as he was washing his hands. I thought I was seeing things, but it was him. He was sitting right behind us too.

Another time, I went to a Laker game, we had good seats. We went to our seats, and Rudy Tomjanovich (coach of the Houston Rockets when they were champs) was sitting right next to us. I didn't say anything to him, but it was a cool sitting right next to him. Apparently, he was doing some scouting.

Met all the guys from ZZ Top one warm summer morning in my old home town. We were sitting on the curb checking out our baseball cards we'd all just bought at the gas station their bus pulled into. They were heading to Louisiana for a show. All three of them got off the bus to stretch their legs, came over to us, talked to us for a while. All three of them very cool. This would have been around 1983 or 1984 I think? I posted the story somewhere on the SKMB several months ago but can't remember exactly where. Also had the honor of meeting Mr. King in 2011 in Dallas, TX. Mr. King was amazing in all regards.

Yes sir, I can't remember where I posted the story a few months back. I was the only one who realized who they were right off the bat. My dad is a big ZZ Top fan so I had been listening to them for a few years on 8-track....yeah, you're old like me, you'll know what those are:)...lol, Anyway. I was about eleven years old, or thereabouts, and it was a very warm summer morning. Back then we were all latch key kids during the summer. I lived in a very small town in southern Arkansas called Glenwood. At that time it was about 500 people total population. We had a gas station called "John Burke's"...you can probably guess who the proprietor of the store was from the store's name. We were always using our allowance to buy baseball cards back and then along with any other money we could scratch together. So, there we were sitting in the parking lot, the three of us, on the curb with our bikes laying beside us. We'd all bought a few packs of baseball cards and were anxiously going thru them seeing if any of the cards were worth a damn. I myself was looking for a Dale Murphy card to add to my 1983 Atlanta Braves collection. This event happened in 1984 but I was trying to get all the Braves team players from the 1983 season. We all stopped and watched as this really big tour bus pulled up to the gas pumps and a driver in slacks and a business shirt got out and started to refuel the bus. The bus didn't have markings on it or anything but did have a Texas license plate. As we continued to watch the bus, three gentleman got off the bus and started walking around, they looked like they were stretching their legs. I recognized them and, never one not to let everyone know what I'm thinking, I said out loud to my friends "HOLY $H!T, THOSE ARE THE GUYS FROM ZZ TOP!" I was already quite adept at cursing at 11 years old, my old man being the world heavyweight champ at cursing. One of my friends said "Who?" I said "ZZ Top, dumbass, the band, ZZ Top." They strolled over to us and Dusty Hill just started talking to us, asked us how we were. I asked him if they were going to a show, he said they were headed to Shreveport, LA. Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard came over and talked to us for a few minutes. All three guys were very cool and very cordial. We were all thrilled and immediately ran off to tell anyone who would listen about our ZZ Top encounter.

Thanks for that story. I especially enjoyed the glimpse into your childhood. Reminds me of IT and the young characters portrayed there.

....love the story....ya just never know...Neil McCoy came through here a few years back on his way to Jamboree in the Hills, stopped by Denny's for a bite-and just pulled up a chair with some locals and hung out for awhile...I have found that the "famous" people I have met are good common folks, and like to be treated that way...not all mind you-there are a share of asswhacks that think they're owed adoration...but most don't behave like that...

Back in the mid-90's the company I worked for had a lettershop in this place called Marina Bay. Marina Bay is a swanky marina and condo complex in Quincy, MA (the hometown of Dick Dale!) just to the south of Boston. There is a boardwalk there with several bars and restaurants. During the summer months we would spend our lunch hours out on the boardwalk. During this time pretty much the whole starting infield for the Red Sox lived in Marina Bay. Scott Zolak (QB for the Pats in the end of the bad 'ole days) lived there as well. If they Sox were at home, and the weather was nice, you were guaranteed to see at least two or three of these guys in one of the restaurants. Usually with a gaggle of baseball groupies hanging on their every word. Unfortunately, those guys were a bunch of DB's. They acted as if everyone was graced to be in their presence.

Um... Mr. King once (though I didn't bother him). I almost ran down Jamie Lee Curtis in the airport--in a hurry to get to a friend who was coming home from deployment and didn't even see her until she was almost road hash (lol). She's teeny-tiny! She carries herself taller on screen, somehow.
I remember going to a music festival in S.F. years ago and Paul Stanley was standing right behind my friend and me. You'd have to know how big a crush I had on him when I was 15 to understand how close I was to passing out--haha! Once he figured out he'd been spotted, he melted away into the crowd. Treat Williams, Chris Pratt, and Emily Van Camp filmed Everwood here for two years and filming often used the church where my girls had Scouts, so I saw them a lot. To be honest, I couldn't have cared less about the kids, but I did like peeking at Mr. Williams :)

I think I already wrote this in another thread .... We were up at Stewart (BC)/Hyder (Alaska) one Sunday and had stopped to take some pictures and
then took a walk along a dock. Al Pacino and Robin Williams strolled up and started chatting. They were up there filming Insomnia. Each of them had luxury
yachts moored there; they were their living quarters while filming up there. Al Pacino is a very classy guy; took me by the arm and walked the dock with
me chatting all the way. Robin Williams was great too of course. But Al really impressed me. Very interesting and intelligent fella.

The only "celebrity" I ever met was Geoff Tate. (Old lead singer from Queensrych for those that don't know.:smile2: )I shook his hand, asked him a seriously stupid question :a11:, and got his autograph. It was very exciting, minus the embarrassment of my stupid question. I've always been a big Queensryche fan.

Which one?
It was a long time ago and they were camped near us for only about a week. I believe her name was Cat or something like that. She liked to use the shower in our RV, and modesty didn't seem to be in her vocabulary. She was weird and made me feel uncomfortable as hell. And my friends were merciless about the situation.
