Recent scientific research just proved I've been right
All along when I've insisted that "Oh, Holy Night,"
"Dominic the Donkey," "Jingle Bells," and "Drummer Boy"
In November makes you sick instead of filled with joy.

Yes, I'm feeling "Bah humbug-ish." Sure... You're all prepared:
Decorated, presents bought and wrapped while carols blared.
All that Christmas music in November makes me tense
Since I haven't done a thing... I mean you no offense

But, I need 2 weeks (at least) before I'm in the mood.
Right now I can understand the Grinch's attitude.
I'm glad all you Whos are happy - jingling away -
But I'd like some "Peace on Earth" until the holiday.

:cower:
Yeah, what is this Dominic the Donkey stuff? Do we have any Italians on the board who actually sat on their grandparents knee to hear the story about Dominic the Donkey?

My Peace on Earth is to have everything done so I can stay home and avoid people. ha!

I have 3 Star Shower contraptions shining at my ceiling, so I call my place Santa's Studio 54. I think I said earlier, once you get past the vomiting and seizures, it's really pretty.
The wife only has 1 star shower contraption. (She also has a Christmas disco ball, though). My gawd, I didn't think anyone could be worse than her with the decorating. :p

I appreciate these well organized folks who plan ahead and have it up by November, but I'll stick with my weird ways and wait until after December 1st!
:m_stocking:
Now, having said that, let's start a countdown!

As of tomorrow (November 30th) 24 days until Christmas Eve [Ho, Ho, Ho]

I think if I did not have a job to go to, I would probably start a bit earlier, as it's quite a big job to erect the tree and then pull out all those decorations!

I like those feathery looking things near the top! It's very beautiful :encouragement:
:star::star::star::star::star:
thank you! I saw those feathery things used that way on trees decorated for the season at a local nursery. It was really very pretty. You can't see her, but I have an old lady fairy as a tree topper. I looked at google images and found nothing even remotely close to what she looks like. She looks wise and magical.

We always put an angel on top. We should do a survey sometime - what do you put up on the top of your tree - an angel or a star?

This one is kind of purty!

Well, I bought an angel and she was just way too big, so went back to my Fairy, she's been there for years now, so I guess she wanted to keep her job.
I Googled "old lady fairy tree topper" but nothing significant came up (except for that first pic where she looks like she has the mumps).

I’ll be getting a nice big snow blower this year for Christmas. Didn’t get anything for my last two birthdays and very little last Christmas so I could upgrade to a decent snow blower as a gift this year. No more envy from me watching neighbors up and down the road throwing snow a country mile while I struggle with my little 5 HP model. With bigger storms the neighbors get done in two hours and I’m still going at it in 6 hours. I’ve giving my current one to my 75 year old father-in-law. I’m getting too old myself to go off shoveling other peoples snow, anyway.

I said "after" December 1st (that's sort of vague, eh?) I know some who are choosing not to even put up a tree or maybe just a small one.

What is this Lucia thing on the 13th? Is that a saint?

Yeah, a sicilian one originally but we nordic countries have kind of adopted her. Killed by the romans under Diocletian who was one big christian harasser somewhere in the third century. Called St Lucy i think in english (you do anglisize every name regardless of origin). It can look something like this
Lucia-13.12.06.jpg

Song, candles and some cake is part of the tradition. Also a drink called Glögg with raisin and almonds in it. quite tasty!!
