A wasp just stung me on the ankle and it hurts like a #(%^#@. If I didn't have to pick up Nick from his first day of 'Hippie school' at 1, I'd take that as a sure sign that the vino should flow freely. Damn it.

Ouch!

I gotta ask, what is Hippy School? Is it a place where they brainwash you into liking the Grateful Dead?

Oh my gosh, those hip lifts are a killer after a very short time! And shimmies are even more difficult. Shakira is a goddess for being able to do that to entire songs!
When I took belly dancing in my 20s, the shimmy and hip lifting wasn't that hard. Holding your arms up over your head all that time is, though! And I never quite got the knack of the belly "roll" undulation thing or using the cymbals without counting to myself. If I tried doing it now, though, I'd be afraid of dislocating a hip.

LOL! For the first 4 years of school (K-3), he's gone to a charter prep school, uniforms and all, that was very focussed on academics. Not a bad thing, for sure, but a ne principal last year changed things in ways that discomforted me and him, so we looked into other options. This year he's trying a new charter with an emphasis on 'whole-child' learning: hands on projects, healthy food (they grow and eat from their own gardens), an hour of exercise a day, etc. etc. "Hippy school', according to my older kids :) They all wish they could have gone there--lol.

Ah! Got you. Thanks for the clarification. I was having visions of students undergoing the Ludivigo Technique, strapped into chairs and forced to listen to American Beauty for 6 hours straight!

Times change, don't they?

If my kid wanted to put on a ratty sport coat and rub charcoal all over his face for trick-or-treat I would put a stop to that right quick.

My parents thought it was "cute."
