...and the Carny life is something that has intrigued Koontz since he was a young boy.......
I saw he has another book called funhouse. is that another one that deals with carny life. I have no idea what its about. I was online seeing if one had to read the odd Thomas books in order or not and I saw that one.

...it's an early one, written under one of his numerous pen names...before being re-released with his imprint...it's a good quick read...

The Funhouse was a novel he did under a pseudonym (Owen West) back in 1980 and is based on the horror movie The Funhouse. According to The Dean Koontz Companion, this is the only film novelization done by Koontz, and that it is 'radically different from the film version'. I don't remember there being too many references to the carny life in it, but it's been years since I read it.

The copy of Funhouse I have has a postscript by Koontz (I'm fairly certain it's this novel) where he speaks about the childhood abuse he endured and how it shaped his adulthood...
I never knew that. I always believe in second chances In life and rehabilation with any act or crime except when it comes to that. just pull the plug on the sick &%$#!.

I have had so many false starts with Koontz. I really liked Lightning but many others i have just became irritated with. To me he seems extremely uneven. For me often things start to happen so fast you never really get to know the characters which makes you care less about them and makes them unreal which in turn makes the story uninteresting. Not always of course but often enough.

If u haven't read twilight eyes yet give it a try. Sounds like a book u would like reading ur post. In TE ofcourse u get the thriller/suspense /page turner ect but u also get the character development.
