hell yeh, off for a wee sleep - then up for the 80mins of sheer torture.
There are two quarter finals tonight, but that would be my whole night, so I'm going to give up the first one that starts at 1:00 am (Argentina v Ireland) and watch the second (Scotland v Australia) that starts at 5:30 am.

OMG... what a game!

Australia 35 ~ Scotland 34
One point.... ONE point! I felt bad for Scotland, they left their hearts on that field.
How do you count points in Rugby? I mean in Hockey and soccer it is easy, One goal, one point, but something tells me thats not the case in Rugby. Or am i wrong?

A"Try" (placing the ball over the opponents end white line) = 5 points
A "Conversion" (after you get a try, your kicker kicks the ball over and between the posts) = 2 points
A "Penalty kick" (for any number of offences, same kick as a conversion) = 3 points

How many months does the Rugby Word Cup go on for?
Are you sick of me prattling on about it?
The competition began on September 19th and the final will be held on Nov 1st. :)

No Lol.

When I think of "World Cup" I think of a championship running a week or two. This seems like a whole season. I will be more interested when it comes down to four teams (if it runs that way).
:biggrin2:
We're getting there now... the quarters are finished. (I have one (delayed) match still to see from those)
Next is Semi's, then the bronze final and then the final. So basically, we have two games left, to find out if we will come in any of the top three placings.

I bloody knew it when they eased up with their 2 point lead . I was shouting at the tellie - "nooooooooo you know what will happen "

And it did ... Again

As it always does

How can you get interested in a competition when its finishing ???

You've missed all the passion from the smaller clubs -

Aussie do that sooo often, last seconds of the game... force a penalty.
Having said that.... Craig Joubert might have had something to do with that last penalty.

Look at it this way... I doubt people, with little interest in the NFL, would be much interested in the Wild Card games in the beginning of the playoffs, but do look forward to the Super Bowl.

I definitely see two different types of fans in pretty much all sports. The die-hards (guilty) and the ones carried in on the wave of the semi's and finals. I don't think it matters which you are. :)

Die hard camp -

You gotta see how a team gets through , otherwise all your doing is watching Rocky v Cubber Lang without the 'adriaaaaaan' back story.

But each to their own.

Anyhoo- on to the next battle eh flake

I'm sorry about Scotland... it was heartbreaking to see their faces, reminded me of us in 2007. :( (((Sheemiee)))
