I did a bacon wrapped turkey last year. I did not like it.
Sounds like there is an effort to keep the turkey moist with this method but for me too much fat involved there. Turkey can be very bland but that's why you have the gravy, the 'smashed taters, the turnips, and the stuffing for, eh? I love bacon as much as anyone but not used in this particular situation.I did a bacon wrapped turkey last year. I did not like it.
Yes. I like bacon, but it was just too much and sort of took away from the turkey in my opinion.Sounds like there is an effort to keep the turkey moist with this method but for me too much fat involved there. I love bacon and I love turkey, but I wasn't wild about a bacon-draped turkey I made one time. The drippings were too strong and salty for a decent gravy and the turkey meat was too infused with, well, bacon.I did a bacon wrapped turkey last year. I did not like it.

I prefer an herbed/onioned/lemoned bird, maybe with some herb butter shoved under the breast skin before it goes into the oven.
YEP. Lots of herbs! I have a ton of sage, thyme, lemon thyme, oregano, etc. from my gardens this year, so there'll likely be more sage than normal this year--lol.I love bacon and I love turkey, but I wasn't wild about a bacon-draped turkey I made one time. Then you'd dig my sage-onion dressing. I toss in a lot of extraneous stuff (depends on who's going to be consuming it - some people don't like mushrooms or won't eat bacon), but it's a white bread-based mix and I make a ton - because dressing/stuffing is my Thanksgiving gotta-have.YEP. Not if you mash them like taters with butter, milk, and salt and pepper. AWESOME. I am allowed a small turnip on Thanksgiving. I am the only one who will eat them.....Haunted said.....turnips.......blech!....right up there with parsnips.....
