View attachment 4027 My doxie dog, Gismo, had a green spider squeaky toy that he loved so much. Never left it out of his sight. His nickname became "Spideyman". When he passed, I took that as my username to honor him.
Spideyman -I couldn't stop crying after I saw this. My beloved Sadie is 15 and has numerous health issues (some she's had for many years). It's been a pretty horrific past few months-she's been having even more health problems lately. I'm going to ask a stupid and juvenile question-how do you possibly get over losing your "soul mate?" Is there anything at all that can really help a furbaby's mom through this excruciating process? Probably not the right thread for this question, but your precious and beautiful picture...

I've had this username for a while on another account, so I decided to use it here, as well. At the time I made it, I combined the titles of two of my favorite shows at the time: True Blood and Generation Kill. (Sidenote: Still love Generation Kill...True Blood, well, not so much).

Mine is derived from my dog. He's a black lab I named Angus The Swift because he was one speedy little puppy when I brought him home 13 years ago.

When I started my indie label to release my band's music I named it SwiftDog Records after him. The label logo is a black lab wearing red headphones. Soooo, I chose SwiftDog01 as my original user name as a bit of shameless self-promotion :listening_headphones:

I left the board for awhile and had my old user account deleted. When I rejoined my name became swiftdog2.0 :)

:( This broke my heart. (again)
I barely breathe through those last months... and later, it's time that helps, just time.

My name isn't very common and people had a habit of forgetting it so a few years back I started changing it. First Jack then A.J then Perry and then I circled round and went back to Jack, I wanted my name to be easy to remember but not that common so I added the al and created a whole new name, Jackal S(the S stands for Storm) Rogue (one because it sounds cool two because it's the title of a movie where a crocodile eats people. Now people call me Jackal and I use it as my pen name when I write stories.

Walter is my Christian name...had I been born after a cousin who would have been named Walter (after a brother, who died) had he been born first...my name would have been Waino, pronounced wino...had a grandfather not died in the mines, our last name would have been Kauppi, pronounced cow-pee. Imagine that life. Kindergarten was tough enough. I'd probably be in prison, tats, out there on the yard sneering at passersby. Oobleck is from the Dr Seuss story and my attempt to hold fast to a theme...appleseed, lunger, oobleck, w/the one transgression of mow mow.

...people are probably sick of this by now, but here we go: when I first started in radio 35 years ago, all the DJ's had nicknames i.e. Dandy Dan, Sir Randolph etc. so I cast about for one of my own...stumbled across one of the record club fliers in the mail(10 albums for a PENNY!)and saw a band named "Gentle Giant", given my size-thought it was cool and adopted it...some time later, folks accused me of copying Country singer Don William's nickname-which also was The Gentle Giant-but I'd never heard of him till then, so I said "screw you" and have kept it ever since...
