Thanks Pops. Granola Bars (peanut butter my favorite), almonds, and Fritos (generic at the dollar store are thick and yummy) are my favorites. I usually try to eat fresh foods, purchased from local farms mostly. Of course, I go to the food store for many staples, but also have tried to support local agriculture. It is funny, the food seems to stay fresher longer, so it doesn't go to waste as often, decreasing my food bill.

We'd gotten fresh tomatoes from the farmers market, and we just didn't eat them fast enough, and they were getting soft and overripe. Yesterday, at lunch I cooked up a tomato with some fish, and it was yummy. So I grabbed the rest of the sack of tomatoes, threw in some onion and various spices (but no salt) and made up a batch of tomato sauce.

Gosh, it's good. Once we get through this, we might have a hard time going back to the canned stuff.

Sneak a little spinach in there too; it is so good for you and the energy it provides works wonders. :yes_pig:

In your mirror.
You've been out backpacking, you get up in the morning in the cold mountain air and throw slices of it on the grill over the campfire, get it a bit crispy, and melt cheese over it. In the realm of Memorable Breakfasts, it ranks in the Top Ten.

Hey, good-looking!

You had it perfectly until...you put CHEESE on it. :barf:

Spam Mexican style:

Cut up the Spam in bite size pieces and fry them up in a skillet with finely chopped onion. Add some tomato sauce, garlic AND Serrano peppers . (Add water as needed. You want to make a Spam sauce. Actually, a Spam salsa. Ha!)

Serve the concoction over eggs/refried beans. With flour tortillas.

Peace.

Two uqqualified and undeserved comments in one day. I can now die happy.

Three guys, hiking, climbing, through rain and some cold into the Rawah Wilderness, found a place to pitch camp, got through the night just fine, and woke up hungry in the fresh morning air at 7,500 feet. To adopt a meaningless tautology, it is what it is.

But we're a cheesy family. Everything is better with cheese. Sorta like bacon.
