I love that book. I first read it when it was assigned in school, but have reread a few times.I just started Lord of the Flies and it's amazing!

The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier
It is twisted; that's exactly what I love about it....and scary as hell...
Why not read her actual diary. It is quite real. But be sure to get the full version. Her father edited out a few thoughts about the mother he didn't like and some thoughts about her waking sexuality. If she had survived she could very well have been a good writer or journalist. I read it first in School but reread sometimes. It is an important document at the same time as it is a good read.Loved The Outsiders and That Was Then This is Now too.
Also remember:
I Am David by Anne Holm
The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier
A Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Storm Boy by Colin Thiele
One story that stayed with me was a play actually, The Diary of Anne Frank... I think every student should study this.
