To very basic rules that have been included since day one:
1) NO FAN-FICTION
At all. Ever. Mr. King hates it, and so does his team of lawyers. Mr. King knows we love his writing, but stealing his characters and situations is a big no-no. It will get this board shut down slicker than s*it through a goose.

2) NO SEXYTIMES
This is a PG board. Remember that.
Spidey said s*it.

YES!!!!!! These were so much fun. I was involved in a few of them and they went all kinds of weird... but FUN weird.

I'm in. :applause:
Weren't they a hoot????!

And just to add, this isn't a make fun of writing or writers type story. NOT AT ALL. Everyone that contributed did a wonderful job. Good writing. What made it hysterical is trying to work all the props and elements of someone's piece into a smooth flow through your piece to pass onto the next guy. That got hard, and funny. But, the good writing still shone through.

Okay. I'll shut up now. I just loved these stories so much.

I think my favorite was the elevator story. A different writer for each floor. Man, that was funtastic!

They were all my favorites. Every single year, so many good writers, so many funny plots and elements and props.

And a lot of those writers not here on the board anymore. I wish they'd all check in.

Good times. Good times.

As I was saying on t'other thread, I'm in ... when is the first day of writing? Do we do any informal brainstorming ahead of that just for the fun of sculpting the blob of word Jell-O?

No. no brainstorming. We each go into this totally blind. We have NO idea what is coming to us.

I do want to make clear, though, that this isn't a joke. We are trying very hard to do the best story we can. The humor comes not because we try to write humor, but because little props or threads or characters get ...mislaid. It's a lot of fun trying to work everything in that needs to be there.

The last person has a huge job of trying to tie up all these loose ends. Anyone want to volunteer to be our last writer?

DanaJean will post the start date once the signup deadline is closed. It will depend of the number of writers. No brainstorming this year. It's a fly by your pants- First up starts the ball rolling by throwing the first stone in the soup (story) and the next picks-up and throw their share in, and so forth. The ball just keep rolling...... Ebdim9th

That depends on how they decide to do it. We've had years when there's a general setting and people contribute chapters on a theme. They've also done it where there's no premise, no brainstorming. Somebody says "Go!" and they're off to the races. I don't know if that's been decided for certain this year.

Is that what we're running with this year? No format, just "Go!"?

Mislaid? It's going to be THAT kind of story, is it?

I think Dana Jean has this right. Assuming I fully understand it, each person just continues on where the last person finished. That will be fun for me to read. What does the group do about the word count? Is there a limit per post? If there are a lot of writers, then maybe some sort of limit would be appropriate, but whatever people think is best. Like Dana says, probably best not to think too much about it. (As for the person who is the last author, it probably should be one of the professional writers in the group, but again, that's not necessarily to be seen as a requirement.)

Yes, there will be a word count, a lot of factors to be finalized once we get how many participate. We are going to start out strong, and finish strong -- And that's not making any judgement about us in the middle. I'm just familiar with the writing of the beginner and the ender, so I know they can do the job.

I will use myself as an example. I'm not a horrible writer, but I'm a weaker writer. And I freely admit that and know that about myself. So, I will place myself somewhere in the middle of the pack. I'm not familiar with the talents of many of the others, so I hope that I will be able to pepper our writers and their abilities evenly to keep the story flowing.

Did that make sense?

EDITED TO ADD: And I'm very grateful to the more professional writers for participating and leaving themselves somewhat vulnerable to stumbles.

I hope they look at their participation as a way of mentoring and guiding us, while having fun too.
