I think that was a very sweet thing to do. And she is probably a practical woman because of her upbringing, so that's why she said what she said. But, I bet deep down in her heart, she loved it.
She made me return it and get my money back. I used to money to get her a powder blue zip-down robe made in Ireland. Now that she loved. :)

Happy Easter everybody! I was raised Catholic so I remember going to a lot of different church services during Lent and eating fish on Fridays. I would get so excited dyeing eggs the night before Easter. We would all get dressed up fancy on Easter to go to Mass. Of course we also had Easter baskets, an epic egg hunt, and every year all of us kids would pitch in their allowances to make a special Easter basket for my mom and dad to eat.

For Easter dinner we'd have a big ham and for dessert my mom made a bunny cake with coconut "fur".

Easter began with going into the city with nana to buy a new dress and coat for Easter. That week was Holy Week, so a lot of time spent in church! Sunrise service Easter morning. Drying eggs was a tradition. Nana would make special designs with wax and then make the dry- boiled onion skins, or special berries. Never used a "dye" kit until later years. Gramps would head down to the city to buy that special chocolate bunny. Easter egg hunt and then "crack the egg" game. Two decorated eggs tapped together. The one that did not crack was blessed for the year. Now sure of the origin for that game! The table overflowed with goodies/ Polish and Russian dishes. Good memories.

Adult life- children grown-- cookie hunt for the dogs.

For decades my wife has made it a tradition for the family to paid Easter eggs on Good Friday. This year she hasn’t been able to find those little glass jars of dye you used to color eggs with a Q-tip. She said after looking online for over an hour she only found one website that sold them. So she ordered ten kits with 4 different colors. Have they stopped making them for some reason?

I remember one Easter, I was probably 7 or 8, I was too excited to dye eggs. I was always up at the crack of dawn but no one ever worried about me, I just read my book until everyone was up.

I thought I would surprise everyone by doing the eggs. (Never mind that my brother and sister might have wanted in on the fun, too, I was being helpful.)

I put the little tablets in water (guess reading the directions never crossed my mind. ;;D) Well, you know it did not work. I was so upset!

I cannot remember if the eggs were boiled already or if I took them right put of the fridge. But I was in a wee bit of trouble when my mom got up. :D

When I was a SwiftPup we always had way too much candy and new clothes on Easter. I remember one year in the mid-80's me and SwiftBro got Miami Vice style suits for Easter. Pastel blue shirts, white linen pants, and jackets. We were stylin'!!

Now that I'm a grown-up SwiftDog, SwiftMom still makes Easter Baskets for me, my sister, and niece! Still way to much candy! My favorite is Jelly Belly Very Cherry jelly beans! I could eat pounds of them!!

I am going to SwiftSis's for Easter Dinner this yer.

Probably because of kids eating them after tide pods.

I've told this story before, but I would like to encourage you adults to do this for someone in your life.

I asked my mom one time if she ever had an Easter basket. She told me that they were so poor, she never did. Well, I wasn't going to have that!

So, I went to the store and bought an Easter basket with the green grass and plastic eggs and I stuffed adult things into the basket too like some perfume, a book, and other little things like this. Then I got the cellophane and tied it up with a big huge bow.

While she was at work, I went and hid it at her house. And then I left notes for her all over where she would have to go from one note to the next to find her basket. I called her and told her she had to follow the notes. I had the garage door note (the first one she saw) direct her to open the oven. In the oven was a note that directed her to lift up the toilet seat in the main bathroom. That note told her to look under the pillow on the couch. That note sent her on and so forth until the final reveal of her big huge Easter basket.

I went over later that night and found her in bed with her Easter basket and all her surprises surrounding her. She looked like a big kid.

It was adorable and one of the best memories of something special I did for her. I was determined that before she died, she would have an Easter basket and she would hunt for it!

Check with your older members of the family and see if they have ever gotten one of these and do it for them!

....as an only child, Mom and Dad would get me an Easter Basket, but there wasn't much in the way of egg hunts.....best memory was always my Grandpa Denny-the esteemed Physician inviting all of us to the Country Club for their Easter Feast....I still miss being able to sit around that table and listen to my folks and grandfolks chat....some kids are never comfortable around older adults, but being the only grandchild-I absorbed those stories and talks like a sponge....and then had my rainbow sherbet for dessert......

Easter weekend, for many years, was when I would be working on the Spring Mysteries Festival. I haven't done that for awhile now, though have gone a couple of times. Thinking about going for a day this weekend. I have a couple boxes of books I want to donate. Plus, I haven't been since Pete, the man who started the Mysteries, died. He was a mentor and a friend. I'm hoping to see him there, if ya ken.
