Here's the deal. I hate that these days are so commercial as it is. You shouldn't have to get her something, but you should want to do something special for the mother of your wonderful daughters. However, if she never gets you anything, then if it were me, I probably wouldn't want to get her anything either. Why do I have to get my wife something on Mother's Day? She's not my mother. I never get anything from her on Father's Day... except some blathering about every day is father's day.
Oh I'll get her something. (I already got her flowers, but she picked them out because she knows I would get the wrong kind.) I can then hold it over her head that I get her something and she get's me nothing. You'd think something like that would get me a hand up for a period of time. But apparently not. Here's the deal. My youngest son just graduated from college. He told me, "that's your mother's day present."
Will he ever be surprised when his birthday rolls around and I tell him, "hey, enjoy that education. Happy Birthday!"
little bastid! I popped your big azz head out of my lady parts, advocate for your rights, baby sit other children so you have no college debt to repay and you can't buy me a bag of gummy bears?
